They way Obama covers his face right before he says it is a giveaway that he knew he was up to no good.
This is the same.
Obama thought he was being cute and insulting, like he's telling a joke among 3 people instead of 300 million. The blowback on this is not just 'how dare he!', but more importantly 'what a dumbass - is this guy an idiot or what'.
Sure it was. That's why the crowd laughed. It's easy to figure out his clever jab, if you're familiar with the events of the last two weeks. His crowd certainly got it. I think most people who are paying attention got it.
But in some respects, I think Obama is very smart. You can see it on his face when he winds up the line. He thought he could take a cheap shot that would go over a lot of people's heads, and he was right.
still time to have some guts. This is a war. Every shot is necessary. Being gentle and naive won’t get you anywhere. This “smiling politics” are the reasons the leftist propaganda works so well.
This is the 50/50 game. It could mean one thing or another and it will give him a platform to 'splan himself....His half of the 50...which is clearly false but he is good at convincing people that he is a sweet little school aged angel.
I have quoted the speech, directly, now you tell me how clearly criticising Bush/McCain’s policies and delivering that line translates to Palin.
It was clearly meant as a mocking of the McCain/Palin ticket, but there is no way you can claim the context of it that he was calling Palin a pig.
He clearly was trying to steal the lipstick line to get the sound bite for the evening news, and it was clearly beyond stupid because it can be used out of context as its being used in the ad, and by others, but there is no way in context of the speech delivered you can claim he call Palin a pig.
Reading and listening comprehention matters, you can allege he was trying to call Palin a “pig” between the lines if you want, but there is no way in the context of the words he spoke you can take that phrase and claim he delivered it in context calling Palin a Pig.

If it were a TV ad, it would include “I’m John McCain and I approved this message.” They’re just looking for free press on this one and hoping the MSM will play it as their response when reporting on the pig comment.
In the context of the campaign, it is obvious.

what scares me is the buch of Conservatives here who are always annoyed by McCain’s attacks and buy the liberal “explanation” for Obama’s insults. They are always advocating for nice words and smile in front of angry protesters and smear.

I don't see it that way. There is a reason a somewhat irrelevant clip of Couric suddenly appeared at the end. That's actually the main intention of the ad. It's not framed as a whinny ad (She did it! Did not! Did too!) nor is it a juvenile one to belittle 0bama. It's a calculated ad aimed to a certain demographic: female voters.
Like every ad, whether it's going to be sucessful or not remains to be seen.
Nor will saying "Mommy, mommy, that mean Obama's calling me names again." Especially when you used the same term in referring to an earlier opponent's programs and she shrugged it off without comment. If anything this makes McCain look weak and overly sensitive.
It is neither Palin nor McCain who are insulted by Obama. It’s the women.
The “Desperate Housewives”-kind of music is used to depict Obama as an arrogant sexist who spits on Sarah Palin, who is proud to be an hockey mom.
He’s spitting on a proud mom. Think about this.
Obama’s own words don’t need anything else. He looks arrogant and insulting to moms.
I am not naive, I know he was hoping to steal the evening soundbite. I don’t think he’s so stupid he didn’t think 300 Million were watching, he knows and wanted 300 Million watching.
What is fauxbamas campaign theme?
Its effectively this, McCain is BUSH III, and he’s trying to make the campaign a referendum on BUSH. This of course is a flawed strategy from the get go, but that’s another story. He is simply running himself as a cult of personality and hoping the campaign can be defined as a referendum on Bush.
So, for the last nearly 2 weeks now, he hasn’t done anything but defend, why? Because the personality getting the focus is not HIM. One of the big lines from Sarah’s speech that caught was her lipstick joke, so Fauxbama delivers his standard lines about BUSH and MCCAIN being bush III, and their policies and then trying to retake the “change” mantle mocks the references to change by his (what he would call) washington entrenched opponent, and claims you can’t put lipstick on a pig and not have a pig.
Now there is no doubt he chose that phrase due to Sarah Palin’s speech, there is no doubt about it. He was, I believe, trying to get the soundbite for tonights evening news, and take the focus off of Palin, and put it back on his attempts to paint McCain as Bush III and stay on the strategy of make the election a referendum on Bush.
Its clear the pig in his comment is the Republican and Bush/McCain policies, there is no way you can read or listen to what he said and declare that he called Palin a pig directly.. Yes, he chose the line he chose because of her, if anything you could argue he was suggesting Palin is the lipstick and McCain is the pig...that would be a reasonable arguable position, but to claim that what he delivered was intended to call Palin a pig is clearly not accurate.
It was an incredibly STUPID line for him to pick, and it goes to the heart of his inexperience and the fact he’s out of his league. I’m sure he thought I go there, I got the news cycle, I can be on the offensive again, Palin/McCain are no longer the agressor etc etc etc. Unfortunately though, it was incredibly stupid line to give because it will be taken out of context and it will be portrayed as something it was not intended to be, and Fauxbama will have to spend the next 1-2 news cycles if not more explaining what was said versus the out of context quote and the out of context quote will live on on You Tube for the rest of the campaign.
This wasn’t an example of Fauxbama not knowing that 300 Million are watching, this was an example of Fauxbama WANTING and KNOWING 300 Million are watching and putting his foot in his mouth. NOt because what he said was inherently bad, but because of how it will be able to be portrayed. It is clearly another example of Fauxbamas being completely out of his league, but to portray it as calling Sarah a Pig, is disingenous.
I guess McCain did too, when he used the same term to refer to Clinton's health care plan. It's just that Hillary didn't make such a production out of it.
Take it from a mom who has raised many teens...the next ad from Obama will be "I'm sorry I offend you MoM.. I didn't mean it! I love you Mom..you don't really believe those mean old Republicans do you? Flash Obama looking at the floor....

No its not. The line was clearly chosen because of Palin’s speech no doubt, but there is not a way you claim she’s the pig in what he said.
