>>ANCHORAGE, Sept. 8 — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a “per diem” allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.<<
How far does she live from the capital - that might include traveling each day.
HUNDREDS OF MILES. END OF STORY!
Yet another desperate attempt to thorw mud at Governor Palin hoping that something will stick.
I don't have a map, so I couldn't tell you have far the governor's mansion in Juneau is from the capitol.
Wasilla to Juneau 810 miles by car. The article says 600 miles, I assume by air. The article also says that she utilizes a state office in Anchorage, which is a little over 40 miles away. The article does not state whether the per diem relates to travel from her home to the Anchorage office.
Juneau is 823 miles from Wasilla using the Marine Highway and roads. Flying miles (straight line distance)are 596.
To put 600 miles in perspective. That is as far as where I live in Indiana to Philadelphia.
