Graphic from screen of Japanese TV earlier tonight, feed from North Korean TV, showing mass party rally in Pyongyang today. No parade that I can see. Everything looks inside. And of course, NO KIM JONG IL.

His look-alike was too close to a heater vent in the wax museum and had a meltdown.

Another screen saver shot from Japanese TV tonight. Actually this event (and the previous photo I posted) was LAST NIGHT in Pyongyang. They had the big party event inside the Hall of the People and there were mass games outside. This must be what they are replaying on the North Korean radio I am listening to right now.

Im sure there are any number of plans ranging from doing nothing to full-scale invasion.
OK, but would a Soth Korea invasion be a military armageddon or would they just airlift food and medicine. I would think that food would be South Korea’s most powerful weapon.

Russian big wig delivering address to the crowed. Korean voice over as translation of the speech. Interesting they let foreign dignitaries address the group. How rude of Kim not to show for their own country’s birthday party with guests there from far away!!

Imagine what is going on Russia Embassy or Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang. The places could be mad zoos. Phones keep ringing from Moscow or Beijing, wanting to know latest situation development.

The place to really watch what they do is North Korean high level types, silver spoon, elite Kim dynasty family types, in Zurich or Vienna or elsewhere in Europe. They would get the word somehow and show odd movements. Whether they would get called suddenly back to P’yang, or what would be interesting to watch. We should watch the DPRK border with China at Dandong, too, see if they start to crack down on DPRK people going over the bridge to PRC to trade, because word of mouth can spread humint detrimental to the regime trying to keep a lid on something smelly. Either way, my guess is that there will not be an orderly transfer of power. I think the bloodthirsty factions up there are too much at each other’s necks, and without constitutional succession, somebody is going to make a power grab IMHO in only a matter of days or weeks perhaps. What a hot topic for the US presidential debate on foreign policy. Lets see if these guys and gals know their stuff on the old DPRK, now that it is back in the news.
