N. Korea: Anniversary Events Scheduled in the Morning Not Held - Unusual Development
Some activities of event preparation in the afternoon
Yonhap News
On Sept. 9, the 60th Anniversary of N. Korean state's founding, N. Korea did not hold the scheduled celebration events in the morning as expected. There are some movements in the afternoon for setting up to hold events, according to reports.
Government sources said, "N. Korea did not hold events scheduled for the morning, such as military parade. We detected movements in the afternoon to set up some kind of events."
As a rule, N. Korea have had military parade in the morning and held (public) dance and march with torches in the afternoon(and evening,) when they celebrate anniversaries of similar importance. This is an unusual development.
As of 5pm(local time,) there has been no reports on mass celebration events for the anniversary in N. Korean media such as KCNA, Pyongyang Radio, N. Korean Central TV.
/snip
Kim Jong-il attended all ten major military parade since he assumed the title of Commander-in-Chief in Dec., 1991.

It is important for N. Korean regime to show that it is still in charge by staging this massive events despite the economic hardship it experiences. It is indeed an unusual development. I will keep you posted on further development.
Ping!
Hmmmmmmm. Could get interesting.
Uh oh, is ol’ Kimmy finally Tango Uniform?
I still dont believe the doubles story thing though, out of Waseda Univ, and him being dead.
They would still have the double there today to maintain their facade.
But with the real live Kim missing, it makes for an interesting story. I will listen to Pyongyang Radio tonight and watch their TV later (streaming on internet).
This gets interesting, however.
If you pick up something, let me know.
A coup?
You’d think there’d be dancing in the streets if there were a coup.
If he died, he’s learning the true meaning of Roneryness.
Unless it is another communist, or maybe nobody knows what is going on. Something is up though, especially with the report out of Japan.
Or he really is Tango Uniform
Or the North is planning an invasion. Watch the rail lines.
Or the Dear Leader has taken North Korea off the base 10 numbering system and all major anniversaries will be celebrated every 13 years...
If anyone figures out the DPRK please let me know.
And tanks. Trust someone whose spent time in Latin America. You don't hold a coup without tanks, lots of tanks. The new guys always have to show how powerful they are by rolling out the tanks - even if they're just old M3s. Screws up traffic big time - but then in Pyongyang that's not really a problem is it.
It’s hell with all those tanks in the streets to ride your bicycle.
Not a lot of fun to get your taxi sandwiched between two BTRs either. Not when the stupid cab driver won’t lay off the horn and the hung over looking Peruvian kid hanging out the back hatch of the one in front of you has his FAL pointed in your general direction and is starting to look just a bit perturbed...
why wouldn’t they send in one of his ‘doubles’ and go on with the show?
TLR,
What is your take on this? Seems significant.
Just a scenario which popped up in my mind.:-)
If we;re lucky the little monster is dead.
Either way, the ship called N. Korea could be in auto-pilot at this moment.
Yikes! That’s not my idea of a good time.
Damn those machismo-filled Latin American cabbies!
