Rather than being a hit on Sarah, this just reinforces the fact that she is a leader.
She fired a trusted aide who could not be trusted any longer. His continued presence on staff when he had already lied to the Governor would have seriously hurt morale on the Governor’s staff, and affected her ability to get things done.
Sarah has high moral standards. What a shock that she requires the same of her closest staff!
A leader makes tough decisions, not just popular decisions.
She sent a strong message with this one.
But for the writer - and here I'm speculating - the story is newsworthy because he or she doesn't understand why such a thing would be distracting. It's just sex and it's just a messy divorce and those things happen all of the time. What's the big deal? So from that point of view, the firing seems extreme and unnecessary and thus newsworthy.
So if you're a red state reader, this is a story about nothing and if you're a blue state reader it sheds light on a religious fanaticism that Palin would bring to the office.
Interesting
So she brooks no adultery in her midst? It may shock some that at least half of this nation doesn’t believe that affairs are merely fodder for entertaining gossip games.
Naturally this will be cited as evidence of her prudishness or her “extreme” religious views. For many this will simply endear her more to them. One would think many women would agree with her on the appropriate response to cheaters.
Conventional wisdom (and some poll I read about a long time ago) says that the WSJ's editorial board is conservative and the news side is very liberal. Don't know why but it sure seems to be proving so judging by the last few days.
Interesting! The way the press has been hinting around about this, you’d think it was Palin having the affair. They have to make something look bad for her out of everything! Sheesh!
All of these “hit” pieces have been rather weak. To some extent, they are innoculating her while the “us against the media” meme is in full effect.
ridiculous
hey Rupert !
when are u gonna start firing those folks at WSJ staff who thought you were gonna fire them two months ago you ol ba*tard.
surely you can find a moderate editor some friggin where
Hey, same here.
That’s why I don’t trust politicians (or anyone else) that cheat on their spouses. If they can’t honor and stay faithful to them the rest of us have no chance at all.
Hmmm. What did she do wrong. I would have done the exact same thing.
CNN had a spread on McCain that went extensively into his alleged affairs during his marriage to his first wife. They also went into Cindy McCains addiction to pills. It was not a nice piece.
