This latter point cannot be underestimated. Iraq may be a quagmire, a new cold war may be looming, the economy may be tanking and the world may be heading toward environmental doom, but the presidential race may be decided by the perceived doability of the governor of Alaska. Doability? Is this guy Dana Carvey?

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Good Grief! Just, Good Grief!
I need to go out and invest in some pharmaceuticals. Clearly, there's going to be a big demand.

Call it Moose ex Machina. You know just once in my life I'm going to run into one of these snotty punks who 'writes' for Salon, or HuffPo, or WaPo, or NYT. They'll say something like this in front of me and I'll punch whoever it is dead in the face.
I'll just smile as I write the check for the fine....

You are making a big assumption when you imply that there is a limit.

The tough-talking, gun-toting "hockey mom" who believes that America's wars are God's will has fired up social conservatives, restarted the culture wars so beloved of Republicans, and shifted the election from being about issues into a personality contest.I stopped reading here..

In a very short time America is going to be sick of hearing the name Palin.

The fear you smell is their unspoken fear of losing the Supreme Court. They don’t speak of this fear because it is too horrible for them to allow into their consciousness for more than a few seconds at a time. Yes, they are just about in full blown apoplectic panic, all caused by a full confrontation of the “truth” they imagine by the truth which is (Sarah Palin). It’s something to behold.

These attacks are not designed to sway voters, but convince Sarah or, more likely her husband and parents, to quit the race to avoid the embarassment of continued attack. In the next few days you will see some Dem women criticize the attacks but suggest publicly to Palin that if she stays in the race the uncontrolled crazies will do her and her family irreversible harm. Just wait.

The leftwing sliming is certainly over the top, but I think “Moose ex Machina” is actually remarkably accurate.
Just as in the old Roman plays — Governor Palin has without warning dropped onto the stage, and caused things to change so profoundly, and in such unforseen ways, it’s a darn good comparison actually.
I like it.
