Where exactly does it say that Americans are against legalization? All I see from that poll is that Americans are not that concerned with legalization one way or the other.
However, they are concerned about securing our borders. John McCain has promised to do just that. Obama has not.
Besides the only polls that really matter are the ones that decided who would be the parties' nominees. The American people have chosen two candidates who support comprehensive immigration reform. They overwhelmingly rejected candidates such as Tancredo and Hunter who took an extreme stance on immigration.
"Slightly over half (53%) now say the nations immigration policy should welcome all except criminals and those who pose a national security risk. But 28% of voters disagree."
This gives me hope that Americans are finally ready for true immigration reform which will include a substantial increase in legal immigration.
