When Indy survived a nuclear explosion in a fridge, I said to myself, “Oooooookay.... so that’s what kind of movie this will be.” I sat back and enjoyed it.

Scenes like that, in any movie, always make me wonder if the filmmakers really think that something like that could happen, or if they know it's silly and they just don't care. Either way, it seems like more movies are being made by people who are offensively, belligerently ignorant of even the most basic laws of physics. I don't mind suspending some disbelief when the movie starts, but these movies require you to leave your brain at home entirely. Might as well stay home and watch Bugs Bunny and Road Runner cartoons. You'll get more respect for reality.

It’s not like the Republic Serials the Indy films were emulating had any more ‘respect for reality’. These films are fantasies.

They are using computer effects for so much of the film you ARE watching a cartoon whether you think it is or not.
