Actually, given the current state of theoretical physics, his position isn’t so idiotic. 40 years without a testable prediction and ‘string theory’ is still considered science.

I guess one way to prove their integrity would be if they conclude that it doesn’t exist. That might be a tall order, though, since I’ve heard quotes from various of the researchers that the Higgs DOES exist—it’s a certainty, and we’ve just got to prove it. Reading about this stuff, though, you don’t get the warm and fuzzies. Their interpretation of these experiments is often very subjective. They base their conclusions on consensus. I’m not sure how scientific that really is.
