Perhaps the MSM will scrutinize the rise of Beau Biden, son of Joe Biden, to a career position as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Philadelphia U.S. Attorney's office.
As I understand the facts, Biden, a graduate of Syracuse University law school, began his DOJ career in 1995 in the Office of Policy Development. Two years later, he obtained the far more prestigious and high profile position of Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) in the Philadelphia office. This is a career position, so politics should not come into play in the selection process.
AUSAs litigate cases on behalf of the U.S. government.
The suspicion arises, therefore, that Beau Biden got his AUSA job with the help of his father. It's only a suspicion, but one that perhaps merits scrutiny from a few of the MSM correspondents currently on assignment in Alaska.
But the issue here isn't really young Biden; it's his father, the candidate for vice president. If Joe Biden used his political influence (he is, of course, a powerful member of the Senate Judiciary Committee) to help his son land a position he otherwise would not have obtained, then Beau's elevation reeks of the insider-influence that John McCain is making a centerpiece of his campaign. It also exposes the elder Biden as a hypocrite on the question of the politicization of the DOJ.
UPDATE: Beau Biden apparently failed to pass the Delaware bar exam three times before finally passing in 2001. He did pass the Maryland bar on his first attempt. Typically membership in the bar of the state where the U.S. Attorney's Office is located is considered desirable, although to my knowledge not a requirement, to be an AUSA. I've found no indication that Beau Biden was a member of the Pennsylvania bar

I thought Biden’s son was a wealthy lobbyist living in DC. Am I wrong? Is that another son?

The 38-year-old son of Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden is caught up in several lawsuits regarding the acquisition and operation of Paradigm Companies, an investment firm that operates a fund of funds - a hedge fund that invests in other hedge funds.
Biden also appears to be feuding with partner James Park, the son-in-law of the Rev. Sun Myoung Moon, Court papers show.
Biden, also a Washington lobbyist, took control of Paradigm in August 2006 and was, for a brief period, its president - getting paid $1.2 million a year despite no experience in the sector, according to charges in one of the suits.

I know many FReepers don't want to hear about, or discuss Larry Sinclair, but the Obama-Biden-Biden tactics are the highest form of corruption you can find. The Karaoke Media Machine won't touch this story, but if this is how Barry and Plugs treat detractors, the icky story needs to be told.
As I posted before, the recent report of the DOJ Inspector General (Clinton appointee) investigating improper hiring of career DOJ attorneys went only as far back as the current Bush administration.

I agree. There is no doubt that the Biden Family was tapped to dispose of Mr. Sinclair.
Beau is a lightweight alright. I have heard from people who know him personally that Joe pretty much forced him into the family biz. Not cut out for public office at all. The funny thing is, it’s pretty obvious that he knows it. For a politician he is really uncomfortable with people, even in small groups. Terrible public speaker. Check out his convention speech (which he must have been puking over) and watch how he stares at the teleprompter. Imagine if your Dad made you AG when you didn’t want the job and had know idea what to do. That’s Beau. He has this nervous air about like he’s always glancing at his handlers to make sure he’s not screwing up. Kind of guy who needs a cue card to read two sentences. Sad thing is he could end up in the Senate.
