Article by Alaska Democrats crediting Palin with killing Bridge to Nowhere Mysteriously disappears!

Posted on 09/08/2008 12:45:14 PM PDT by staticmh

The Alaska Democratic Party pulled this page from their site, but luckily Google has it cached - it states "the State of Alaska officially abandoned" the "Bridge to Nowhere, basically crediting Sarah Palin with killing it!

Funny how the page just happened to disappear!

TY for the post... I have been trying to get more info on this to show others that Palin realized that this was a big pork barrel project and squashed it... unlike the picture the liberal media are trying to paint.

Ya know, it is incidents like this one that give weight to the argument that article snapshots serve a valuable public function and should be considered fair use.

It's still on their site:

Gravina Island Bridge

It still has the Palin mention.

PS...SAVE this web page as proof, Wayback Machine (which archives the web) didn’t have this cached, and I don’t know long Google will have it cached either

you’re right, it is still there. I clicked through a link from senateconservatives.com that must’ve been modified or redirected, and heard it on Hannity that it was removed.

Yep, just like the joke Dennis Prager relates about Communist Russia revising history. “In Russia, the future is ‘known’...it’s the past that’s in doubt”

Yep. It’s still there. I have the text and link saved as a MS document — the best I can do at the moment.

As long as we have the paper the article appeared and the date it appeared, it’ll be fine. McCain or someone in her camp can go to the local library and make a copy..lol
DUmmies are so clueless.

“However, Gov. Sarah Palin said the $398 million bridge was $329 million short of full funding, and only $36 million in federal funds were set aside for it. She said it was clear Congress had little interest in spending any more money for it and that the state had higher priorities. “

Ya know, it is incidents like this one that give weight to the argument that article snapshots serve a valuable public function and should be considered fair use.

I was thinking the same thing earlier today when I came across an older article. I did a search to see if it had been posted to FR. Nothing came up, but, I wasn't sure if maybe the search function wasn't working too well.

Anyway, I saved the article to me hard drive for future use. But, at the time, it occured to me that maybe that is why they don't sites posting full articles. I still say it should be fair use. The don't go around suing people who leave newspapers on tables at restaurants for the next customer.

I really miss the days when we could look up an article on FR and have the whole article pop up along with links to other similar articles.

As an aside, I recently got the following in my email and was wondering if anyone knew how accurate the information is.

Subject: SARAH PALIN'S SECURITY CLEARANCE

Before you dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard, consider this:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about. According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is. ------------ So, anybody know if the info is accurate?
