John Sullivan observes the relationship between a politician and a speechwriter is involved because in the end, the politician says the words even if someone else does write them. Words are not just a bunch of quotations artfully strung together. They reflect the speaker's ideas, values, personality and vision. In effect, he owns them and takes responsibility for their content as well as their style and delivery in that most important political weapon, the speech. And the most successful speeches convey that with forceful impact to the intended audience. Ronald Reagan did this well. Just as Sarah Palin has now done.

that speech was Sarah Palin's ...totally....Matt Scully might have put in some words, a phrase here and there, but that speech was Sarah's....

to prove this....Matt has written for others ....Dan Quail and Dubya IIRC....can anyone remember ONE memorable speech from either of them?

I think it is the beginning of many new beautiful friendships--although Matt seems so much more lucky than us--lol. Lovely. John and Sarah also look to make a great team in that she has incredible strengths that allow her to do the work he doesn't like and John gets to do what he loves and gets to shine where he is stronger.

Matches all made in heaven :-). Their two families seem to gel as well.
