Not that the democrats would ever consider following the law, but now that Obama and Biden are officially the democrats nominees, if Obama drops, Biden moves to the top and picks a new VP.
Not that the democrats wouldn't ignore that, get a judge to let them, then have Hillary as the nominee and her choice of VP.

Actually, if Obama drops out, the DNC can pick whomever they want. The only question is whether or not they have passed the filing deadline.
However, we learned in New Jersey that not even filing deadlines really matter.

Polls this early in the cycle are mostly to make news, not report the "leader". I don't believe any of the numbers. Every number is published with an agenda in mind, not as a reflection of the data. In the case of McCain's growing lead, I believe it is to justify the democrat national committee stepping in to change a candidate. If Biden were to suddenly become "sick", they would need a new VP candidate.
Enter Hillary to save the day. Or maybe both Biden and Obama get "sick". Hillary isn't definitely out of the picture until after election day. It is too early to celebrate very much.

If he is going to bait and switch with Hillary, he better hurry. He’s running out of time.
