China plans to launch its third ever manned space mission later this month.
A state news agency says this mission will feature its first-ever space walk.
It'll carry three astronauts into space, 1 of whom will conduct a space walk that'll be broadcast live using cameras mounted on the inside and outside of the spacecraft.
In 2003, China became the third country in the world to send a human into orbit.
Last year China launched a moon probe about a month after rival Japan did the same thing.
Built a model of the Chinese manned launch vehicle. Challenging kit, but really cool. It is at my desk at work.
I heard it’s made of lead. Can anybody pls. confirm??
Old Soviet design or anything original?
I’d say original. Uses some Soviet technology and some US technology, but anyone that is smart borrows good ideas.
If you are interested in looking at the model (it is a free download of a cardstock kit), you can find it here: http://udonfact.hp.infoseek.co.jp/paper/down/czdown.html
Would not advise it as a first model, however. Build a few simpler kits from Niels Paper Models (http://www.geocities.com/nielspapermodels/) or Phillipus Landesbergen (http://www.lansbergen.net/eng/index.htm) first.
