This is probably the first of many pucker-moments that we are all going to have between now and 11/4. The media can read the polls. Hell, they probably know more about how the polls are trending than is being reported. And it ain’t good for Obama. I think that what we are seeing is the beginning of the media not “doubling down”, but rather going all-in.
I think that the media wants Obama, but would have been OK with a McCain, since he is old and represents (in their mind) the ossification of the GOP. The old guard that has nobody in the wings to take over.
Then here comes Palin. She’s fresh, she’s unabashedly conservative and she’s popular. More popular than anything that they have ever seen. The media is now looking at the very real possibility of a generation of conservative governance. Twenty-five years of “Palinomics”. An energized and GROWING conservative electorate.
They are going to stop at nothing to pull her down. The reputation of the most hallowed newspaper in the US? Means nothing. They will toss it away like toilet paper to stop this juggernaut.
I really do weep for the Palins, because they could not have possibly have known what she was going to start with just being her.
And if they do take her down, the culture wars will start. And these won’t be wars of words...
They want her to drop out of the race more than they want Obama to win. If they didn’t, they would hold bad news on her until closer to the election.
Exactly. Post 507 hits the nail on the head.
