George W Bush has a 29% approval rating. Agree with the polls or not, the voters are pissed off at him. And if we run a GWB-like candidate, we will get blown out by Obama and his goons.

Best option at this point is to put up with 4 years of McCain. If he’s successful, he’ll restore trust in the GOP, clean house, and get some new leaders to get the party moving in the right direction again. Then in 2012, we can run a more conservative candidate.

A conservative president would not get any conservative legislation through the congress anyway in this cycle since the Dems have such a big majority. We need to work at getting Congress back in 2010 and 2012.

I agree. McCain is the half loaf this election. We need to get back the House and Senate during the next two election cycles (or, at least, close the gap). Hopefully, McCain will have a reasonably successful one term and then he leaves.

..."voters are pissed off at him...
yeah, this one is, BIG time. Had he not pushed the comprehensive immigration reform issue in a critical election year, we would NOT have lost both the house and the senate.

"And if we run a GWB-like candidate, we will get blown out by Obama and his goons."

That's exactly what's going to happen because McShamnesy = GWB.

"If he’s successful, he’ll restore trust in the GOP,

Yeah, if he's successful, 30 plus million illegal aliens will be given amnesty via earned citizenship and employers of the 'former' illegal aliens will be given a pass. Our borders will be deemed secured by Open Borders governors. The Bush/CFR agenda moves forward.

" clean house, and get some new leaders to get the party moving in the right direction again."

As in left? McShamnesty is all over the press saying he's going to continue to cross over, appoint democrats, work with democrats...why doesn't he just become a democrat. Ah, maybe that's the coming 'change', besides, if it looks like a RHINO, walks like one, talks like one, it probably IS a RHINO. He may as well admit it

"We need to work at getting Congress back in 2010 and 2012."

Doesn't sound like there will be a need. If the BIPARTISAN CFR agenda succeeds, a NAU will be formed and will be playing under a whole new set of BIPARTISAN rules. Perhaps all this party blending is just another step in that direction.
