Palin should strike fear in the hearts of Democrats
post-gazette.com ^ | Sunday, September 07, 2008 | By Jack Kelly, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"You arrogant ass! You've killed us!" So said the executive officer of a Soviet submarine to his captain in Tom Clancy's novel "The Hunt for Red October" after the captain had recklessly fired a torpedo that homed in on his own sub.

The McCain campaign finally tapped into the GOP’s biggest strength. They followed the Fox News hiring strategy. This may sound simplistic, but before FNC , most conservative women were usually older or frumpy. It’s the conservative woman formula : guys want to be with them and women want to be like them.

One of my most favorite remarks when I witness some egotistical dumb-ass screw things up FUBAR. And the last time I saw it was with CA deciding to ‘deregulate’ their enrgy markets. Now we are seeing it with the media imploding on itself over Sarah Palin, as though no regular person won’t notice they fail to even mention Obama’s middle name.

Funny, I thought of that torpedo scene in “Red October” too..... the MSM tried to torpedo her candidacy, enact the Eagleton option, and instead they helped to cement her fame and popularity with close to 60% of the population (not all watching of course, but I mean that her favorability rating has gone to around 58%). Hope that the MSM torpedos are coming right back at them, the Obama campaign, and the Democrat establishment.

They have displayed their gross biases, partisanship, and hatred of conservatives and a majority of America.

The Grand Old Party has a bright new face.
And extremely clever new mind.

And the amazing thing is, that so few people saw her coming.

In 1980, Reagan may have shocked a lot of moderates and leftists with his easy march to the White House, but conservatives were primed for his arrival, had been ready for Reagan for 4 years or more.

But Palin is almost a shot out of the blue. And we owe it to McCain.

There may be no stranger political phenomenon in the history of American presidential politics than John "Reach Across the Aisle" McCain pushing Sarah Palin front and center onto the national stage.

Thank you, John McCain.

Welcome, Sarah Palin.

Great article! Thanks.

It seems like a few cracks are starting to appear in the ultra-liberal media.

Ultimately, they will choose saving themselves over trying to save Barry.

They still havent caught on. I briefly watched CNN this morning and saw some idiot woman named Lolo, bringing up Bristol Palins fiance, Levi’s, myspace page, where he refers to himself as an “effin redneck”. So now Levi is a target!

I love “The Hunt for Red October”. Even Alec Baldwin can’t ruin it for me.

I just sent a short email to Mr. Kelly for his excellent article on Palin.

I think it’s a good idea to let him know (and others who write similar articles) that there are people in the country who agree with his summation, because you know he’s getting some vile emails from the liberal wackos.

Yes. Conservatives have rightly criticized McCain for McCain-Feingold, immigration and his pandering to the global warming crowd, but if Palin fulfills even a fraction of the potential she shows as the new face of the conservative movement, every conservative owes John McCain a big debt of gratitude.

Here’s something else...she’s magazine seller. Put her on the cover, and women will buy the magazine at the checkout line. Us magazine tried to have it both ways and attack her, but it blew up in their face.

She's as much a natural in politics as Michael Jordan was in basketball.

But...but...how can this be?

She didn't graduate Harvard.

Sarah found that a family life and politics is a compatible marriage of personal goal and is putting the elitists into a state of petrification with her capability to fulfill her life's agenda to it's fullest with fervor.

That line was in the movie, not the book.

I’m sure mccain now realizes the problem of mccain-feingold after experiencing it during his own campaign.

amnesty: he already said he got the message. Interestingly he actually voted against the amnesty bill that Reagan signed.

global warming: it’s easy for conservatives to talk about it but they never had the chops to properly debate it (the only republican in the primary that said he didn’t accept global warming was Tancredo and well...he doesn’t give a good impression).

Until Sarah Palin came along.

That line was in the movie, not the book.

The entire ending of the movie was dramatic license. As I remember, they sunk an old submarine in the trench to trick the Soviets into thinking that's what happened to it.

for some reason this tune keeps popping in my head at the mention of Sarah.

Oh, the barracuda, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly white
Just a sharp wit has Palin, babe
And she keeps it … ah … out of sight.

Ya know when that barracuda bites,
with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread
No fancy gloves, though, wears Palin, babe
But there’s nevah, nevah a trace of red.

Now on the sidewalk … uuh, huh … whoo … sunny mornin’ … uuh, huh
Lies a body just oozin’ political life … eeek!
And someone’s walkin’ ‘down the street
Could that someone be Sarah-Cudda?

So I guess that Obama and Biden, in an attempt to reach out to the dumb racists in the “Fly-over” states, are planning on making a big campaigning push, in Frostbite Falls....
