COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The banners, buttons and signs say McCain-Palin, but the crowds say something else.
"Sa-rah! Pa-lin!" came the chant at a Colorado Springs rally on Saturday moments before Republican nominee John McCain took the stage with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a woman who was virtually unknown to the nation just a week earlier. The day before, thousands screamed "Sa-rah! Sa-rah! Sa-rah!" at an amphitheater outside Detroit.
"Real change with a real woman," read one sign at a Wisconsin rally. "Hurricane Sarah leaves liberals spinning," cried another.

"She's the draw for a lot of people," said Marilyn Ryman, who came to see her at the Colorado rally inside an airport hangar. "The fact that she's someone new, not the old everything we've seen before."
McCain has sought to portray Palin as a bulldog who will help him "shake things up" on Capitol Hill.
Washington, he said Saturday, is "going to get to know her, but I can't guarantee you they'll love her."
"We do!" came a cry from the crowd.
At a rally in Albuquerque later, McCain acknowledged the juice she has injected into his campaign.
"The response to her has been overwhelming, it's been incredible," he said.
Perhaps recognizing the excitement she is generating, the McCain campaign was planning to keep Palin with McCain for several more days, rather than dispatch her to campaign by herself, as had initially been discussed.
On Saturday, McCain and Palin rode their post-convention wave into the competitive West, where Democrats have made recent gains in traditional Republican strongholds.

You think Maverick and the Barracuda are having some fun these days?
At the conclusion on Lincoln’s political career, Edwin M. Stanton observed, “Now he belongs to the ages.” At the commencent of Governor Palin’s national political career, it is safe to say, “Now she belongs to the American people.”
Indeed! Picking Palin has brought the Media full circle. Now the hypocritical wagging finger is pointing at them.
I saw John smiling like I've never seen him before on that final night of the convention. Yep - they're jazzed!
Well said!
Here’s a nice song to cheer up the bam-bots:
“New Kid In Town”
[The Eagles]
Theres talk on the street, it sounds so familiar.
Great expectations, everybodys watching you.
People you meet they all seem to know you,
Even your old friends treat you like youre something new.
Johnny-come-lately, the new kid in town,
Everybody loves you, so dont let them down.
You look in her eyes, the music begins to play.
Hopeless romantics, here we go again.
But after a while youre looking the other way.
Its those restless hearts that never mend.
Johnny-come-lately, the new kid in town,
Will she still love you when youre not around?
Theres so many things you should have told her
But night after night youre willing to hold her,
Just hold her tears on your shoulder.
Theres talk on the street, its there to remind you
That it doesnt really matter which side youre on.
Youre walking away and theyre talking behind you.
They will never forget you till somebody new comes along.
Where you been lately? theres a new kid in town.
Everybody loves him, dont they? now hes holding her
And youre still around, oh my my.
Theres a new kid in town,
Just another new kid in town.
Oo-hoo, everybodys talking bout the new kid in town.
Oo-hoo, everybodys walking like the new kid in town.
Theres a new kid in town I dont want to hear it
Theres a new kid in town I dont want to hear it
Theres a new kid in town
Theres a new kid in town
Theres a new kid in town everybodys talking
Theres a new kid in town people started walking
Theres a new kid in town
Theres a new kid in town
It's not hypocritical when it's pointing at them. It's accurately pointing at the source of biased reporting and falsehoods.
Or did you mean hypercritical?
Here's her theme song:
With apologies to Kim Carnes--Bette Davis Eyes
Her words are solid gold
Her lipstick is nice
Her actions always bold
She's got Ronald Reagan eyes
And she'll tease them,
She'll unease them
all the better, she'll displease them
She's precocious
And she knows just what to do to make a foe hush.
She's got lines to deflate
all those lies,
she got
Ronald Reagan eyes.
“Ill bet you know some Baracudas of your own.”
She is the validation that women like myself [and most of my friends] have been waiting for all of our lives.
We all had family/society ragging us because we were “not like normal women”.
We preferred worn-out jeans and t shirts to fancy dresses, pistols to Barbie dolls, riding horses to hanging out at the mall, shooting empty pop cans to painting our nails, bailing hay and cleaning barns to fancy dress affairs, didn’t care if our nails were “dirty”, short and ragged or if our hair was long, wild, unstyled and tangled by tree branches as we ran untamed through the wilderness. [be it literal or figurative]
All of us who were told to sit down and shut up when we questioned the status quo because it wasn’t “lady like” to protest the blatant BS we are handed daily.
She is a nexus for *all* the “women who run with wolves”.
She will become iconic.
I enjoyed seeing that one again. Kim Carnes was seriously hot...and that voice. Maybe she would be interested in filling in as Governor of Alaska? There is going to be an opening soon.
I loved her voice...and Bonnie Tyler's...all the gravelly “whiskey and barbed wire” female singers.
Janis Joplin is another favorite.
*Squeaky* female vocalists always annoyed me no end.
You sound a lot like my younger sister. She was a conflicted child at the age of 12. For Christmas that year, she got a Barbie doll and Daisy BB gun!
She is well over 50 now, raised two kids pretty much on her own, very much a lady, but TOUGH AS NAILS!
All my female family members (I have one of those HUGE southern families) are very excited about Sarah!
For my “Sweet 16” birthday, my dad bought me a .410 shotgun.
My mother was not amused.
Ironically, she now tells the story of the time I picked a barn rat off of the backyard burn barrel at 100 yards with it.
Not only was I “conflicted” as a child, the things that she was ashamed of me doing then, she brags on now.
[talk about surrealistic!]
My dad was a career prison guard and he would go to work and regale the inmates with my latest Annie Oakley-esque adventure every night.
[these tales of wonder, mind you, were the very deeds I’d gotten in big trouble at home for doing, in the first place]...:))
One evening, I stopped in to visit him at work release and inmates came running from everywhere, just to get a glimpse of “The Legend”.....LOL
[all I heard in the background was “It’s HER! It’s HER!!]
Imagine their surprise when, instead of some terrifying Valkyrie, in walks a puny little 5’ 3”, 105 pound runt.
I think I became even more “legendary” because of that since dad said the ‘white noise’ regarding me got to be so intense I was ordered never to show up there, again.
[he was concerned for my safety because they were, after all, in there for crimes and would someday get *out*]
So...did your sister shoot the Barbie with the BB gun?....:)
and energy
Just saying that the media's finger is pointing back at themselves now. Thanks for letting me clarify.
“..So...did your sister shoot the Barbie with the BB gun?....:)...”
No, she shot me a couple of times though.
She hung out with me all my friends until puberty. (Momma kept a close reign on her after that). We roamed the woods and swamps, fished, camped, swam, all the usual kid stuff common in the early 60s south.
Sarah is enjoying this support because she is very frank about her across the board socially conservative views and doesn’t parse it....just like Rush says...run as a social conservative, don’t run from it
This is not about gender except to those who like to make it about gender to suit her own ends.
We alpha males out here who have flocked to her of course note her beauty (gorgeous) and charisma but we like her for what she says and does.
Folks try to make this a validation of fembotism at their peril.
