House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, under fire from U.S. bishops for comments she made about abortion, accepted on Friday an invitation from the Roman Catholic archbishop of San Francisco for a private talk.
Pelosi said in a letter to Archbishop George Niederauer that she'd "welcome the opportunity for our personal conversation and to go beyond our earlier most cordial exchange about immigration and needs of the poor to Church teaching on other significant matters."
The proposed meeting stems from comments Pelosi made Aug. 24 on NBC's "Meet the Press."

This ought to be interesting. Oh, to be a fly on the wall, if she keeps the appointment.
She’s busy interfering in state government and federal government.

Pelosi Asks Bush For Iowa Disaster Relief
http://www.kcci.com/news/17409579/detail.html?rss=des&psp=news
A day after Gov. Chet Culver demanded that Washington cut the red tape and release disaster-aid funding destined for Iowa, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has sent a letter to President George W. Bush requesting that Iowa pay less of the total share for debris pickup and rebuilding infrastructure.
I hope the Archbishop hand delivers a letter to Nancy that she has been excommunicated and must publicly renounce her position on abortion.
I for one am glad they will be meeting. No doubt when Nancy, “ardent Catholic” that she is, will learn something about church dogma and it will be pointed out to her, in simple language so she can understand, that she is not the Pope nor a potential Church Father.
It is bell, book and candle time for Pelosi.
Oh oh. Perhaps Obama should intercede, so that peace might break out everywhere...
Pelosi wants to run the church too.
Maybe the bishop could just hand Pelosi a copy of the Catechism and say “Here - read this.”
Oh, I wonder if she will levitate?
He better sprinkle the room with Holy water.
Nancy’s gonna git a spanking...
Archbishop’s got his paddle out..

I just hope he reminds her one day she WILL get old, and she WILL die, and none of the people she is cultivating favor with NOW are going to be able to help her THEN.
If he has any convictions of his own, he’ll excommunicate her.
Ardent Catholic my @$$ .
I’m certain she will be offered a chance to confess and repent.
Excommunication is a bit excessive, but she should have to endure some type of religious education if she keeps publicizing her twisted views.
She has already excommunicated herself latae sententiae - a jure, which Niederauer needs to remind/inform her of. A ferendae sententiae - ab homine, excommunication is the result of a tribunal.
The archbishop needs to make it clear where she stands with the Church.
Notice how she brings up previous conversations with the Archbishop on “immigration and needs of the poor.” She is trying to put him on notice that he needs to consider her support in Congress for Catholic immigration policy and her sizable contributions to Catholic charities.
It’s easy for Archbishops outside of her district to chastise her; but I think the Archbishop in her own diocese will handle this matter very carefully, aside from releasing a letter on abortion policy to the press..
I posted essentially the same thing at the same time you did.
I just want to see the point reiterated.
She needs to consider the state of her soul and that she will someday be required to account for her actions, as we all must.
Indeed. The truth cannot be stated too often.
