“she has a respectable approval rating there in Alaska”

Respectable? A poll was released today that showed 83 percent approval rating.

I am tired of Newsweek and all of its lies.

I hope Sarah gives interviews but not to enemy magazines like Newsweek, Time, or 60 Minutes.

If L.G. Parnell wins the House primary is he likely to win the general election? If so, and Palin becomes VP, who then becomes governor?

Is there any hope Stevens can be tossed out, or that he will quit, so a stronger Republican can run? It would be tragic to lose a seat in that good state, especially when losses are expected in so many other states. Again we can’t underestimate the stupidity of the American people, sad to say.

"We've got to go after her, and fast," a top Democratic strategist, who asked for anonymity when discussing strategy, told me.

And this is further evidence of 2 things: 1) they're panicking, and 2) they're blind to they're own stupidity.

A much better approach, from their point of view, would have been to have had a "ho-hum" response to Palin's selection. It is as much their no-holds-barred attack strategy, as it is Palin herself, that has energized the Republican base. Imagine for a moment what would have happened if The One had just responded with something like this:

I congratulate both Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin on her selection as the Republican Party's vice presidential candidate and look forward to debating both of them in the campaign ahead.

They could have then proceeded to ignore her. I think this would have had a very depressing effect on McCain's campaign. But no.... they're stupidity and ideology and hatred simply wouldn't let them play the smart game.

I was going to comment about “respectable approval rating” but other Freepers said all I wanted to say and said it better so I decided to drop Fineman a line and laugh at his foolishness...

Dear Mr.Fineman,

Thank you for giving me the best laugh of the day so far.
Your characterization of Sarah Palin’s 83% approval rating as “respectable” had me in stitches.
Keep up the good work, it’s wise to have something to fall back on in case your “journalistic” career falters
and you certainly indicate a knack for comedy.

Cheers,
etc...

"Any more news on what will happen with Ted Stevens? I wonder if perhaps he does not resign and goes into the general election, will the Palin/McCain coattails help him?"

Last I heard yesterday on the news was that there were still some 2500 questioned ballots that still had to be counted. Don Young was leading by 151 votes, but I didn't hear what Ted Steven's count was. I don't know what the deadline is for these things. I've only been back up here since 2005.
