This is the same Obama who earmarked:

$8.5MM to build a barrier to prevent "Asian carp" from breeding in lake Michigan.
$3MM for a planetarium movie theater.
$400K for a Latino Studies program
$1MM for a museum wing for "indigenous peoples."
$1M for renovation of a "children's museum"
$3.5M to expand a small IL airport for use by "corporate aircraft"
$500K to Rockford College for "classroom enhancement"

There's a lot more, but many of them are politically correct (i.e. millions in academic grants to improve minority test score performance, etc.).

But, in total, he's requested one-third of a billion dollars in earmarks for 2008 alone.

Guy who requested $740 million in earmarks on Palin: You can’t really be for change if you’re pro-earmark

Indeed. To truly represent change, you have to request earmarks for your wife’s employer.
I was hoping against hope that he’d come after her on this point. And now, my dream’s come true.

Where’s Biden...shouldn’t he be responding?

he's probably just glad that she's not throwing zingers at him... isn't that what he said about her speech at the RNC? what a joke...

Do you know what you call a Presidential candidate who is responding to or attacking the VP candidate of the opposing party? LOSER

And, it also greatly increases the stature of the VP candidate in question.

I watched most of that townhall meeting today. The truth is, he devoted only one or two sentences to Palin with one swipe about the earmarks. He didn’t even get as detailed as the short article above did.

Personally, as a small gov’t/free market conservative, I have a lot of concerns about Palin. But I expect we’ll learn much more in interviews and debates. I’m not sure how she can defend the earmarks.

What a hypocrite. Obama has requested earmarks for his wife's hospital ...

and then, what a coincidence, her salary was tripled!

Never mind, it was for good performance on the job. Haha.

Really? I grew up in Missouri, and we always pronounced it "terra hote". Terra as in terra firma, and hote as in boat.

Sounds like you pronounce it as what Obama would say when requesting an incision on Michelle.

I am sure we are all okay with Republican Earmarks.

It is only the Democratic Earmarks that we must oppose.

Per Fox news, Obama speaking to 700 people in Indiana. That in itself is funny.

I was born and raised fairly close to Terre Haute, and I'm surprised that he got that many people to show up....

I suspect the “bridge to nowhere” was a republican earmark........and Sarah properly struck it down.

There's a NY Times story from this spring just posted here of Obama requesting $750 million in earmarks! His attack on Sarah's reformist credentials just flopped big time!

As governor, Palin originally supported earmarks for a controversial project known as "the bridge to nowhere." She dropped her support after the state's share went up, but she hung onto 27 million dollars to build the approach road.

Gov. Palin would have never done such a thing. Here we have the Obama Campaign and the MSM is what is an obvious lie claiming as governor Palin hung on to 27 million dollars for Sen. Ted Stevens' Bridge to Nowhere.

Its eerie... there's enthusiasm for the GOP ticket in the tens of thousands and all Obama can muster is a few hundred for his rally in a Red State! It reminds me of the title of the book on Woodrow Wilson, When The Cheering Stopped. Popularity is ephemeral.

Barry is a bozo.

He sure is!

He claims McCain's campaign director is a big lobbyist yet doesn't mention that his running mate, Plugs has a son who is also a big lobbyist!

The article claims that Sarah kept 27 million dollars for the “Bridge to Nowhere” that was never built!

The DNC and Obama Campaign must be feeding this information to the press.

“He describes John McCain’s running mate as a “skillful politician,”

I thought she had no experience.
