Election '08: Does Barack Obama owe his meteoric rise to an Israeli-hating adviser to a Saudi billionaire? Why did a race-baiting mentor to the Black Panthers favor this yet unknown community organizer?
We know he's a Harvard graduate and was editor of the Harvard Law Review. Less known is the story of how he got into the prestigious Ivy League university. As Newsmax's Kenneth Timmerman reports, he was helped by a letter written by Percy Sutton, former Manhattan borough president and a credible candidate for mayor of New York in 1977.
In an interview earlier this year on New York's all-news cable channel NY1, the 88-year-old Sutton made some interesting revelations about his relationship with the young Obama. He told NY1 reporter Dominic Carter on "Inside City Hall" that he was introduced to Obama by a friend raising money for him. The friend asked Sutton to write a letter in support of Obama's application to Harvard law school.
"The friend's name is Dr. Khalid al-Mansour, from Texas," Sutton said. "He is the principal adviser to one of the world's richest men. He told me about Obama."

Keep up the great work, Mr. Nerks.
Good grab. No doubt about this one.
sorry for going off topic - I’m looking for threads involving that weird statement Obama made about having a citizen militia-type group that is just as well funded as our military?
Anyone know how I can get a hold of that?
I’d like to spread that one around.
Interesting that neither name of Obama’s supporter show up on David Horowitz’x website: Discover the Network. Since David was involved with Black Panthers, etc in San Francisco in the late 60s, I was hoping that he would have some info on this guy.
That is a truly amazing post. And just part of a much larger story about this person who has led a ‘charmed’ life.

The Columbia years are a hole in the sprawling Obama hagiography. In his two published memoirs, the 47-year-old Democratic nominee barely mentions his experience there. He refuses to answer questions about Columbia and New York which, in this media age, serves only to raise more of them. Why not release his Columbia transcript? Why has his senior essay gone missing? [....]
Voters and the media are now exercising due diligence before Election Day, and they are meeting resistance from Mr. Obama in checking his past. Earlier this year, the AP tracked down Mr. Obamas New York-era roommate, Sadik, in Seattle after the campaign refused to reveal his name. Sohale Siddiqi, his real name, confirmed Mr. Obamas account that he turned serious in New York and stopped getting high. We were both very lost, Mr. Siddiqi said. We were both alienated, although he might not put it that way. He arrived disheveled and without a place to stay. For some reason the Obama camp wanted this to stay out of public view.
What can be said with some certainty is that Mr. Obama lived off campus while at Columbia in 1981-83 and made few friends. Fox News contacted some 400 of his classmates and found no one who remembered him.
Bump and ping.
And if he had had any kind of reasonable GPA he would have had a free ride to postgrad admission somewhere, so he probably graduated with similar distinction to McCain - almost at the bottom of his class.
And I daresay you could also imagine had McCain gone to Harvard, that out of 400 people NOT ONE OF THE 400 REMEMBERS HIM?
sarc tag here in case you should need it.
