Hello people......does anyone know what it means when they ‘break you’? McCain says they broke him ...but how? By getting him to admit his name? What exactly did he mean....

it means they beat and broke his body for so many days he lost his thinking mind and said things pain allows

I took it to mean that they broke his will to live and fight. That he momentarily lost the resolve to care about this situation or his life.

I imagine it means he either gave them some information, or he begged for them to stop.

I believe I read that McCain did sign some sort of “confession” after being brutally tortured for months. It had no merit, of course, and he denounced it as soon as he was freed. I’d have cracked a lot sooner than he did. Like about 5 minutes after they started torturing me.
