AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, Maha-Rushie! America's Anchorman, Truth Detector, Doctor of Democracy, and Chief of the Patriotism Police. He is the man who runs America. He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do--That's host. Get ready to what you were born to do--That's listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).
"We love to hear Rush Limbaugh,
Excellence in Broadcasting.
From sea to shining sea,
Millions and millions listen.
Conservative voice of freedom,
Heard throughout all America.
A message pure and truthful,
The downhearted are encouraged.
Integrity and honesty his motto.
We love you, Rush.
Listen to Rush Limbaugh.
G-d Bless You, Rush Limbaugh."

Disagree on the seat loss, if Republicans can get out front as fiscal conservative, admit their criminal spending sprees were wrong, and educate on low tax rates bringing in more revenue, they may have a chance to retain/gain seats

He was practically *begging* McCain NOT to talk about reaching across the aisle...which he, of course, did & stressed it two times, from what I remember. So I don’t think Rush with be that enthused about his peech, for that reason.
To: Clint N. Suhks
It started slow and ended GREAT!
I'll concur with that. It did start off, as Brit put it, routine and "workmanlike," but was very powerful at the end.
I did wince a few times, however, when McCain mentioned "God's Children," some assorted government programs that he would implement, and "reaching across the aisle."

DU is now criticizing Sarah's kids' names!!Good grief. And RWT, if you're perusing DU, I hope you're donning the appropriate gear...

I completely agree with you. I admired McCain's pow experience in a rather abstract way, but hearing him frame it in the context of how he was before captivity (self-centered, youthful cockiness) as opposed to being broken and understandably changed by the experience in the YEARS he had to think and self-analyze... Well, I just was totally blown away by the way the experience didn't destroy him or make him bitter, but rather strengthened his resolve and absolute love for his country.
That is the bottom line. One party offers real hope and optimism and love of country based on realism and faith in the American people. The other? Nothing but empty rhetoric mouthed by an angry activist/Marxist hell-bent on destroying our country. There really is no choice - and I, too, am VERY HAPPY with our ticket.

Sorry for all the multiple posts. I’m having a problem with my damn computer today! My apologies.

To be sure, McCain's speech had a few grimace moments:
1) Bashing oil companies;
2) Latina immigrants (read: Illegals);
3) Working with Democrats for "reform" (read: McCain-Feingold and McCain-Kennedy)

Obama was just on FOXNEWS, and just like Rush says, Berry’s telling the crowd, paraphrased, ‘you all have jobs, but you know someone who is having hard times’

I thought the speech sucked, one of the worst given by a nominee. I think McCain once again has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. As you say the gop is screwed in house and senate races. And I think that he threw away the base last night. What a shame. At least I got to hear Heart’s barracuda as they walked off the stage.

Will Obama Support Chicago Surge? Hometown Death Toll Double Iraq's
As per this item [via Drudge] from the CBS affiliate in Chicago:
"An estimated 123 people were shot and killed over the summer. That's nearly double the number of soldiers killed in Iraq over the same time period."
