Having written a book on intellectual fraud, "Hoodwinked," and being something of a literary detective, I had no doubt on reading Barack Obama's 1995 memoir, "Dreams From My Father," that Obama did not really write it.
The style is above his pay grade, way above.
As Obama tells the story of the book's genesis, "a few publishers called" after he had been elected president of the Harvard Law Review in 1990.
In the real world, publishers don't call unknowns unless someone influential prompts them. Obama does not tell us who.
Nor does Obama tell the reader how he got elected president of the Review in the first place. Historically, the position had gone to students whose writings in the Review had shown real skill.
Prior to his election, however, Obama had written only one unsigned note and that one heavily edited. Once elected, Obama contributed not a word.
As Matthew Franck has pointed out in National Review Online, "A search of the HeinOnline database of law journals turns up exactly nothing credited to Obama in any law review anywhere at any time."

Ouch. That's going to stick.
It will if I have any say in it.
Why was Obama elected President of the Harvard Law Review even though he never produced any scholarship either before or after he was given that great honor? So in ten years he never rose above the rank of instructor even though he was a black man with the highest honors from Harvard Law School?
I think the usual term is “affirmative action.” Certainly it didn’t hurt that Percy Sutton put in a word for him. But knowing Harvard, I don’t think they had any trouble with the idea of putting an articulate in as a politically correct figurehead.
True. I’m not worried about Sutton or Harvard’s pathetic PC ways. I’m interested in why Sutton claims that this radical islamist/black panther would have asked him to write a letter of recommedation for Obama, and why he claims the same radical was/is raising $$ for Obama.
How on EARTH did he get through an FBI background check???
Affirmative Action processing?
He didn’t write it. Period. He is simply not good enough to write two complete, coherent sentences. I’m beginning to realize that this is a high penalty to pay for our affirmative actions. I love how “they” malign Clarence Thomas (who is brilliant), whilst they idolize the Obamaloon.
well said
Karl Rove said that Obama not only didn’t write his own books, he never read them.
Karl Rove pointed out an interview that Obama did with Tim Russert, in which Tim was trying to tout Obama’s second book. Rove said that Tim was throwing Obama what he thought were soft ball questions regarding social security policy which was discussed in detail in the book. Russert asked Obama to name three things that he would do right now to fix social security. Obama hemmed and hawed and finally came up with something that congress had already been doing for the last six months.
Unfortunately, I don’t think 90% of BHO supporters understand or care about the implications of a possible fraudulent book. Perhaps if plausible deniablity can be removed, then it might get a run in the media.
I don't think he did. I believe that when you come in at the very top, you bypass the process, because no one has the authority to call you on it.
Look at all of the discussions about whether BHO is even eligible to be President. While it is true that there is a lone suit filed (by Berg), most people, including myself, don't know how to initiate such a check, or who has standing to do so.
So far, he's bypassed the vetting process, and he's finessed the Constitutional requirements for President.
It’s hard to stay on top of all the fraud. Didn’t the media vet this candidate?

Heres how Ive been bumping Palin/Obama threads. Sung to the tune of Oh! Susanna, dont you cry for me. .... Oh, no Bama, please dont lie to me... for Im off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.
I come from Minnesota with my laptop on my knee; | Im goin to Free Republic my true love for to see. | It rained all night the day I left, | the weather it was dry; | The sun so hot I froze to death, | Obama dont you lie. | | Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me; | I come from Minnesota, with my laptop on my knee.

No Bama, dont you lie to me; | Im off to Free Republic, | with my laptop on my knee.
I fight in my pajamas, | Its plain for all to see. | I aim to be the next Buckhead; | The media all hate me. | I fell in love with Sarah | When my sister bit a moose. | The Guvnors family ate it up | And then they set it loose. | | Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me; | Im off to Free Republic, | with my laptop on my knee.
She loves her sons, she likes her guns, | and Triggernometry. | The media will jump the shark | When Juan makes history. | Well, JimRob knows shell pave the trolls | So controversially, | And Berg will knock Obama down | With friends of Hillary. | | Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me; | Im off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.
I soon will be in Hawaii, | And then Ill look all round, | And when I find his birth record, | Ill fall upon the ground. | But if I do not find it, | This Freeperll surely die, | And when Im dead and buried, | Obama dont you lie. | | Oh! No Bama, dont you cry for me; | Im off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.

I wonder if there was a monetary donation that occurred soon after the appointment? We can find that out, can’t we?
what was it Lt. Callahan said so long ago.......
"That's some price to pay for being stylish! "
Certainly possible, if the Saudis are involved. I think Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard has been one of their pet projects.
“Nor does Obama tell the reader how he got elected president of the Review in the first place.” Mr. Obama arrived at the law school in 1991 thanks to Michael W. McConnell, a conservative scholar who is now a federal appellate judge. As president of The Harvard Law Review, Mr. Obama had impressed Mr. McConnell with editing suggestions on an article; on little more than that, the law school gave him a fellowship, which amounted to an office and a computer, which he used to write his memoir, Dreams From My Father.
You’re right on.
This comes up so often (right and left) that it needs to be firmly debunked.
There is NO official vetting for elected officials (and for good reason - can you imagine what could have happened under the Clinton control of FBI/IRS if they were allowed to “vet” candidates for office?)
Secondly, FBI doesn’t do ‘background checks’ in the sense of sending someone to snoop around asking questions of your neighbors. They can, at the request of a local/state LEO during an investigation, release information from the national FBI crime database.
National Security “background checks” are handled by DOD at the request of an employer, and only after consent of the potential employee.
There is NO OFFICIAL VETTING OF CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE.
Period.
Are those records public? Can we find out what large donations were made during that period in question?
I’ve heard that Obama was simply a self promoting brown noser all the way through Harvard law. You’ve, of course, heard about the Obamamometer, the scale used to measure the quantity and quality of the B.S. that a student heaps on a professor. Well, the offer of head of the Harvard Law Review was supposedly a result of that demonstrated skill of Obama’s.
I have heard that he turned down the offer at first, saying that he knew what he wanted to do when he got out of law school and that heading the review would not benefit his goals. He eventually relented, I guess that he only agreed to take the position in name only, sort of like getting an honorary degree. Maybe that’s what all affirmative action is, just an honorary position.
The daughter of a friend of mine just graduated from a top law school and she tells that the school had a weird way a scaling grades, so that she couldn’t get less than a B+. She was an affirmative action student, but I have no way of knowing if that grade scale applied to the whole class or just the affirmative action students. I just couldn’t bring myself to ask.
