Ann and Nancy Wilson are pissed at the Republican Party and have fired off a cease and desist letter to the McCain/Palin campaign.
Specifically, the Heart women are upset that the GOP has used their classic "Barracuda" as a theme song for Sarah Palin. TMZ obtained a statement from Heart's rep, who says "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission."
The statement goes on: "We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored."
We're told Ann was watching TV today and heard the song at the convention when Palin was touted.
I read somewhere that Rush pays approx $500,000 a year to use that song by the Pretenders.
“No. Here’s your ASCAP royalties.”
“Oh...okay.”
“And a Lutherburger for Ann.”
The Wilson sisters ought to be thrilled that one of their awful songs is getting some air time and just shut up.
I need to say this and this thread is as good a place as any. After watching John McCain’s speech last night, with tears rolling down my face, I felt ashamed for my previous criticism and lack of support for him. He is a good man — a real American hero — and I believe he is sincere in putting country first. He and Sarah Palin have my full, enthusiastic support.
Do we care? Never heard of 'em.
The sad thing is that Chrissie Hynde had been listening to show and didn’t know it was her song “My City Was Gone” with The Pretenders until later. Crack kills.
Great song, stupid songwriter.
It’s amazing how celebrities are so quick to alienate half their fans. Why, just because they have talent, do they feel they have a need to voice their opinion? Talent does not translate to smarts. We know many of them are spoiled rotten drug abusers drunks and arrogant know it alls. I trust their views as much as I would Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton’s. I too loved hearts’ music but now have a bad taste in my mouth and will indeed join a boycott.
I know where it comes from. My comment was that she apparently doesn’t like the nickname.
I’m surprised that Heart is taking that tact. Ann and Nancy seem genuinely pro-woman/family. Maybe the RNC could reason with them.
The first time I saw the group Heart was at a record store called Peaches in Columbus, Ohio where I was a college student back in the early 70’s. They were coming off the bus and thats when I saw...Nancy. I still carry a torch for her today, politics aside. Though she’s older than me...by 37 days... you’re right...she’s still a very talented and attractive woman. Ummmm, Nancy.
Have you seen Kantner lately? He looked like one of Nick Noltes mug shots. I saw him on some show on an HD music channel. After one number, he started some rant about Cheney. I saw the Black Crows on another show and the lead singer bashed the Bush administration.
Benatar’s a conservative? I never would’ve guessed it!
NO.
Royalties are paid to the recording industry. Just like every radio station pays.
That’s it. I knew it was a Zeppelin song.
Grace Slick was quite gorgeous in her prime. I remember her on the Smothers Brothers Show (what leftist creeps) and she has this little smile thing barely going on like she’s being tickled or something...very sexy, while singing White Rabbit.
The only “Starship” song I liked was “Sara” - great song & video that has a personal connection to me.
I Don’t get why Republicans keep using libtard music without permission. Use patriot’s music!
Born in the USA is an anti vietnam song.
Really? cool.
"I've got fudge!!! Hershey's Chocolate Kisses...We're talkin Hagen Dazs, baby, whadaya say?"
