Perhaps they meant the satellite photography analysis was done in the U.S.
Either that, or it was just another typical journalist’s goof.
If there were truly a Roman settlement in the US then Biggus Dickus would be running for POTUS.
The headline on the linked story clearly says “US”.
That being said, I think the Iranian news service (I guess someone didn’t notice the source) is just plain stupid.
Also notice - there is a poll on the same page - “In your opinion, which politicians can best govern the United States?”
It includes “John McCain and Sarah Palin” 15%, “Barack Obama and Joe Biden” 46%,
and “Neither Democrats nor Republicans can serve the will of the American people” at 39%
