Last Day Folks! Thanks for letting me do the threads.
Last night was GREAT! You can tell by the amount of slime that is being thrown us. Break out the poopcorn, it's going to be another late night!
Let's repeal all laws then since there are some people who will always break laws, right?
Sheesh!
Elect McCain so that he can appoint judges who understand the Constitution and will overturn the abomination Roe v. Wade.
I can provide you with plenty of quotes. I attended CPAC. I can tell you how that statement was received, which is why a number of us got together to form RAMM If you parse the statement, you can see how meaningless it really is. It is meant to deceive and fudge his position.
I am trying to figure out what your point is. Are you saying that McCain has changed his position on amnesty? If so, you couldn't be more mistaken.
Roe v. Wade has convinced them abortion is an unalienable right much the same way Dred Scott convinced the South slavery was theirs.
How surprising...you must only be the 100th McCain basher on this site who thinks they get to decide what the person they’re responding to said, rather than bothering with pesky stuff like reading comprehension. For example, you can take a post that says we will fight and that we will get most of what we want and you can turn it into a call for outright surrender. Very nicely done.
To use your military analogy, you’re the one calling for surrender. You are the one ceding the Oval Office to an ultra-liberal blame-America-first neophyte. The rest of us are fighters. Like soldiers on the field of battle, we take what we can get and use it as a base to take more. Soldiers don’t hear “We’re only going to get 60% or 80% of the way to the objective” and throw their guns down on the ground.
When McCain does something liberal, I’ll fight. When he does something conservative, I’ll cheer. That’s what a Reagan man does. Meanwhile, you will presumably be at home sucking on your binky. Enjoy.
O.K. now your REAL GOAL is clearer!
Thank you i know now that you want a victory of OUSSBAMA.
And i understand that you can’t be A TRUE CONSERVATIVE since only hard-core leftists think one can use EVEN EVIL MEANS to reach a supposed good goal.
And bringing DELIBERATELY USA,and the world, into a great danger with Mr.O.(multiculturalism,gay activism, pacifism, islamism, terrorism, socialism, open borders...) is clearly EVIL
Let the Dem be the party of fear
K For the proud words! This is really conservative, the only way to TRUE PROGRESS
By 2012, the Supreme Court will be so far to the left, it won't matter who runs. The activist judiciary is a monstrosity at the circuit level, but you and your ilk want to bring it to the Supreme Court in spades - all because you're in a snit over immigration. Tell you what by 2012, you're not going to care about immigration because this won't be a nation you'll recognize anyhow. A vote not made for McCain is a vote for Marxism, whoever you write in. Just keep that in mind while you're cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Reagan attacked the party, too, after the losses in 1974. See his CPAC speech in March of 1975.
The reason this was looking like a year where the Dems couldn’t possibly lose was because the GOP caucus in Congress and the President have been engaging in exactly the sort of crap that McCain was attacking last night: Spending us into the dustbin of history. Anyone who refuses to vote for a Republican after he calls for fiscal responsibility, real reform and smaller government has completely missed the point.
Surrender if you want. I’m a fighter...just like Reagan was. You’re on the opposite side of this from him.
For starters your McCain quote is from before the CPAC speech and it doesn't state a pro amnesty position by McCain
I am trying to figure out what your point is. Are you saying that McCain has changed his position on amnesty? If so, you couldn't be more mistaken.
My point is that since CPAC, McCain's stated position is not amnesty (whether one believes him or not).
Again;
When did McCain say that he wasn't voting a straight Republican ticket?
You're the one who isn't doing that.
Reagan was a conservative. This is what he said at CPAC on March 1, 1975: "A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers."
McCain is appealing to independents, moderates, and Dems. He is eschewing such basic principles as the "rule of law" and free political speech under the 1st amendment.
Surrender if you want. Im a fighter...just like Reagan was. Youre on the opposite side of this from him.
I am a fighter like Reagan. I won't compromise fundamental principles in the name of political expediency. John McCain doesn't represent the GOP of Reagan and his victory will move the party further to the Left and marginalize conservatives even further.
“Roe v. Wade has convinced them abortion is an unalienable right much the same way Dred Scott convinced the South slavery was theirs.”
Well they are wrong. Roe just makes it nearly impossible for legislatures to regulate abortion. But I know there were plenty of abortions before Roe and there will be plenty when Roe is gone if this is treated as purely a political issue. I am opposed to all abortion legal and illegal.
However, I am totally in favor of immigration. I am opposed to illegal immigration.
“Yet, you will give comfort and aid to the enemy by slamming McCain in a clearly GOP-friendly forum”.
Really? This is a GOP-friendly forum? Really? I think you need to go back and look at Romney, Huck, Martinez, Grahamnesty, Rudy, posts.
This is SUPPOSED to be a Conservative Forum. The enemy is liberal and populist policies.
I will translate for you. McCain has said that he will now secure the border first using a commission of border state governors to verify it. This includes Arnold, Napolitano, and Perry. No mention is made of implementing fully the 1996 USVISIT program to track and deport visa overstays, which contribute to 35 to 40% of all illegal aliens in the US, i.e., they don't come across our southern border.
would we address other aspects of the problem in a way that defends the rule of law and does not encourage another wave of illegal immigration.
McCain has said repeatedly that you can't deport 12 to 20 million people. He wants to legalize their status using such euphemisms like getting to the back of the line and paying fines. That is what he means by defending the rule of law, not deportation. The 1986 amnesty was supposed to be a one-time event. Ironically, McCain voted against it when he was in the House.
Poll: Voters Unaware of Candidates Immigration Positions; McCain Supporters Farthest Off the Mark
McCain’s votes in Congress on big issues show that he puts his own views over loyalty to party. In his speech last night, he repeatedly made that point.
So, it's your position that Gerald Ford was a Reaganite?
No, nor was he a McCainite.
Uh huh. And what is it about McCain that is so much worse than Ford that conservatives should gratefully accept the second term of Jimmy Carter out of conservative "principle?"
You can try to frame the choice anyway you want. What kind of conservative principle is it that you should vote for someone knowing full well that his policies will destroy our nation and wreck our economy, i.e., amnesty and a "cap and trade" system to address the manmade global warming hoax? Why should I be complicit? If John McCain can vote on the basis of conscience and principle over party, why can't I?
