Charlie Rose is small town too and humble beginnings. He took a different route. You got him pegged exactly. Worst thing is he's such an obvious alkie or semi-alkie and it affects his show. He's fast becoming a drunken old fool. Oh, a few decades ago he was a handsome devil cutting a wide swath through the charmed womanhood of NYC. But now the dissipation has set in
Charlie Rose was born in Henderson, North Carolina, as a son of Margaret and Charles Peete Rose, Sr., tobacco farmers who owned a country store.[2] As a child, Rose lived above his parents' store in Henderson and helped out with the family business from age seven. A high school basketball star, Rose entered Duke University planning on majoring in pre-med, but an internship in the office of Democratic North Carolina Senator B. Everett Jordan got him interested in politics. Rose graduated in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in history. He earned a Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law in 1968. Rose also attended New York University Stern School of Business.
I noticed that Rose’s face looked different on different nights, sometimes very baggy with dark circles around the eyes, sometimes more pulled up, but as an infrequent viewer I simply assumed facelifts. He’s developed a nasty habit of shaking his forefinger in guests’ faces, as if saying “shame on you.” Passing around shame and blame tends to go with alcoholism, doesn’t it?
I think elitists have difficulty getting/staying sober. After all, it would entail admitting they’re wrong.
