I hate to say it, but only the Republicans are STUPID enough to let a nerd with a journalism degree and no background check run the telepromter, simply because he’s experienced at it.
Eventually the Republicans will figure out that there are no non-partisan people working in the trenches at events like these, and that if your guys don’t control EVERYTHING, the other side will exploit the weakness.

I agree. Given the stakes, this lack of meticulous planning for every contingency worries me. Whoever this telepromter operator is — fired. And why not have a manual backup to the automatic prompter in any case?
