A new study finds that the strongest of hurricanes and typhoons have become even stronger over the last two and a half decades, adding grist to the contentious debate over whether global warming has already made storms more destructive.
I think we do see a climate signal here, said James B. Elsner, a professor of geography at Florida State University who is the lead author of the paper, being published in Thursdays issue of the journal Nature.

My local radio station played this news story today as tropical blob Hannah "threatens" us with much needed rain and Ike does what many hurricanes do, peak at 4/5 in the middle of nowhere and weaken as they approach land. Naturally they didn't have time to mention the short span of the study and other flaws.

Since all the polar ice didn’t melt this year, they have to get on another story.
Ho-hum. NYT says the sky is falling, yet again. Just like global warming in the 20s, cooling in the 70s, and back to more global whining now.
Moving right along.
TORONTO (AP) - A chunk of ice shelf nearly the size of Manhattan has broken away from Ellesmere Island in Canada's northern Arctic, another dramatic indication of how warmer temperatures are changing the polar frontier, scientists said Wednesday
Trust the GlobalWarming tax-grab crowd to cling to dying concepts. I assume you’ve seen this, one of hundreds that come to similar conclusions:

Solar topics seem to draw out personal theories and Leif has been very indulgent in discussing such theories - far more indulgent than I would be. However, please limit your discussion to published literature rather than your own bright new ideas.
That advice applies in spades to the Casey guy in the link you provided and many here who promulgate their pet solar theories without any scientific scrutiny.
And just a few months ago we had articles saying hurricanes weren’t affected by global warming. Wish the experts could make up their minds. It’s tough out here trying to figure out what I should be terrified of. /s/
I guess the Times wants to forget the fact this past calendar year has been one of the coldest on record.
I agree with Palmer. This is a guy with little more than a computer and a DSL line who tries to present himself as head of some research institution. Even when he’s right, he’s not credible and serves to help the like of Hansen and his minion, Gavin, and the rest of enviromarxists, not to mention the scientists who once sought the truth and understanding, but now seek grant money with all of the vigor of T Boone when he’s got a plan to Pickens the taxpayers’ pockets.
This after a three year period in which no significant storm hit the US despite the dire warnings that hurricanes would become more frequent and more deadly. But, lets skip over that bit of data.
The left is simply delusional.
Also, satellite and computer technology allows us to see storms and estimate strength, that was never done before a couple of decades ago.
