Exactly. What the DBM fail to realize is that you have different responsibilities in different positions. I don’t have a problem that Palin solicited funding while mayor. Mayors are elected to boost their town’s profile and improve things for the citizenry.
Representatives, however, are supposed to understand that the power of the purse comes with responsibilities to use that power wisely.
I don’t fault towns for applying for federal funds, I put most of that blame on a congress who never met a dollar they wouldn’t want to spend. Congress can say no, but they don’t.
Ideally, I’d have FedGov get out of business which it isn’t explicitly allowed to do per the Constitution and return that money and power back to the states. The maybe small town mayors can solicit from their State legislature instead of FedGov.
