The made-up allegations are believable to intellectual leftists because they believe that all reality is a mental construct i.e. "made-up" so whatever they think of to "charge" someone they don't like with becomes Reality. In that respect they are not liars nor are they hypocrites. Neither characterization is possible against people who follow the marxist Party Line.
