Fox says there is an AA plane circling LAX with a blown tire, burning fuel before it attempts an emergency landing.

I like happy endings.
Nope.
Obama is his co-pilot, I reckun. ;-)
Me too!
Clean seat covers for everybody !!! :-)
These are the days that the passengers are glad their pilots are well-trained! I’m always sickened when I hear pilots are just glorified bus drivers.
This is why pilots deserve every penny they get.
Amen to that!
It had just left LAX on its way to Canada. There must have been an ‘emergency’ for it to return to LAX and land.

The’re glorified bus drivers...now go throw up...LOL..not here though please :)
Maybe Firestone tires?
Being stuck in the ball turret during a landing like that would put a serious crimp in your day.
Interesting flightplan.
Heard one last night on my scanner. Delta 1064 had a 27 year old women who had heart problems and the flight(SLC-BOS)was diverted to DTW. He was hauling it to get to DTW.
>>Landed ok - some rubber did come off the blown tire during landing.<<
That’s nothin’. A whole wheel came of a tractor trailer right in front of me one time. :)
Agreed, a big hat tip for keeping their cool. They don’t get in them seats by being cute alone. ;-)

I’m always happy to get on a flight where I see a middle-aged or man with a military hair cut (that he still wears out of habit)! AA has a lot of former military and those guys really know how to keep their cool.
USING RETREADS...COST CUTTING MEASURE....
Well, my dad flew one during the war and he tells me the Sperry ball retracted up into the belly of the plane.
Assuming your hydraulic system still worked.
When asked to explain how this could happen AA maintenance technician Floyd R Turbo said:
“well we was just following barack obama’s advice about properly inflating your tires in order to get better fuel milage, with fuel costs being what they are I figured that I’d help my airline get better fuel economy and if 44 psi is good 88 psi must be twice as good”
