I agree fully. A terrible choice because of inexperience. It surprises me at how many are drinking the kool aid and not thinking rationally. If the democrats had nominated a VP with similar experience we would be laughing hysterically.

What may be worse is that McCain has thrown away his best weapon against Obama by essentially saying experience doesn't matter.

one of the least qualified candidates in history

Oh really now...let's look at some previous Presidential contenders...thanks to Freeper RogerD for posting this info:

Four presidents generally ranked in the top fifteen by historians have had experience comparable to Governor Palin’s prior to assuming office: Franklin Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Grover Cleveland.

Sarah Palin spent four years as a City Council Member for Wasilla, Alaska, six years as Mayor of Wasilla, and two years as Governor of Alaska.

FDR spent just over two years in the New York State Senate, eight years as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and four years as Governor of New York.

Theodore Roosevelt three years in the New York State Assembly, two years as Governor of New York, one year as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and less than one year as Vice President of the United States.

Woodrow Wilson spent eight years as President of Princeton University and two years as Governor of New Jersey.

Grover Cleveland spent two years as Sheriff of Erie County, two years as Mayor of Buffalo, and two years as Governor of New York.

Also, the following information should be given to anyone that questions her credentials:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

The Democrats nominated someone with less experience than Palin to run for PRESIDENT.

And, incidentally, many of us are laughing hysterically at the choice they made.

It should be obvious to all that the woman is not qualified. She has not even been governor of one of the least populated states 19 months! And this talk of “executive experience” is nonsense. The Presidency is light years removed from the office of governor of Alaska.

To avoid the kool aid intoxication, ask yourself: If the democrats had nominated someone for Vice President with similar qualifications, what would I be thinking?

Obama is not qualified to be President due to his inexperience. But to say he has less experience than Palin is pure fallacy. He has been in the Senate for 3 1/2 years. And he was in the state Senate of a large state for eight years. Outside of governor for 19 months of a very small state (in population) Palin’s only experience is the tiny town of Wasilla.

So your point would be...?

McCain blew the election with this decision.

Another rare voice of reason, I see....

I'll sum up my feelings from an e-mail I sent to my liberal family members in Boston:

I am SO excited about Sara Palin! In fact had McCain chosen anyone else, I'd have definitely voted for Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party. I'd risk an OBAMA administration to teach the Republican Party that they dare not walk away from the values of the traditional base in order to build a new base of neocons. That's what the Democrats did when they walked away from their original base of the POPULIST PARTY & THE GRANGE PARTY from their history to embrace the fringe and extreme views of the folks for choice, virulent gay political agenda and the greens. When that happened the "solid south" opted for the Republican viewpoint in social issues which for them is their driving force. Yet most of those Dems remain Dems in the south. That goes back to the civil war, or as most refer to it as "the recent unpleasantness." Sometimes you'll hear it referred to as the War of NAWTHUN AGGRESSION. LOL

Back to Palin. She has tons of experience that neither Obama nor Biden can match. To wit: she recently had to send an F22 after a russian bomber and escort it out of American airspace, the first in many years to over fly Alaska (Probably didn't order it directly but she sure as heck knew it was in the air). She has visited Kuwait where units of her Alaskan national guard are deployed and visited the hospital in Germany, you know, the one Obama wouldn't visit without a photo op team present.

She has on going negotiations with Putin on fishing rights, has negotiated, and won, with oil companies for royalties to be paid to Alaska for Natural gas drilled in Alaskan lands. She has negotiated with Canada for a pipe line deal (for piping the gas being drilled for) that other governors could never seem to pull off.

This gives her foreign policy experience that Biden and Obama can't hope to match.

Alaska had a surplus of tax Revenue last year so she ordered 1200 bucks per tax payer be returned. Dems have tried to equate this to the economic stimulus package the feds handed out this year, but it isn't flying.

Alaska hasn't got the Death Penalty so she's not signed any prisoner Death Warrants, but she's on record saying that if a bill for such came across her desk, she'd sign it.

I have not one worry about the the vp debates. Sara Palin is bright, tough and dedicated. She is a true example of an American icon no longer seen very frequently on the national stage: The rugged individualist. Biden is renowned for putting his foot in his mouth ... up to the kneecap. He is going to say something smarmy at the debate and Sara is going to smile sweetly and then gut him like a trout.

I think she has legions of folks who underestimate her. I think that before this is over she'll litter the political landscape with the bodies of those same folks.

Palin has a lot of Teddy Roosevelt in her. Outdoorswoman, hunter, activist in conservatism, youth. She took on corruption in her own party in her own state, not because it was expedient, but because it was the RIGHT thing to do.

Teddy did the same as Governor and again as President.

The future of the Republican Party and Conservatism has a new name, and a new face: Sarah Palin

I'd be thinking "The election's all over but the shouting".

Actually, that's exactly what I'm thinking right now.

OK, then who will you be voting for in November? Bob Barr? Write in vote for Romney or Rudy?

Richard Dawkins?

A good person with solid GOP ideological qualifications, but a terrible VP choice, one of the least qualified candidates in history. McCain blew the election with this decision.

------------------------------------------------------------

So "qualified" is someone who has spent their whole adult life in government, spending other people's money, endlessly re-appropriating gub'mint programs, entirely focused on getting re-elected? I submit that there is a lot to be said for someone who has lived a real life outside the cocoon of Beltway Washington.

Do you agree with Governor Dukakis' statement from 1988, "This election is not about ideology, it's about competence"?

Do you know why so many governors are elected to the White House? It’s because they have experience being in charge of the excutive stewardship of an entire state. Palin just happens to run the largest state in the country, and the state which produces the largest amount of domestic oil.
Additionally, she has executive experience in business and was a mayor as well.

The democrat party loves to paint itself as the party of everyman. Who sounds more like everyman: is it Joe Biden, the plagerizing lawyer and career country club politician? Barak Obama, the Ivy-League lawyer and socialist community organizer, friend to unrepetant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and a twenty-year disciple of a racist minister? Or is it Sarah Palin... hunter, fisherman, and mother of five, whose husband is a commercial fisherman and oil rig worker?

Palin is going to wipe the floor with both Obama and Biden’s pansy asses. She was a brilliant pick for VP, and the liberal idiots know it.
