In a February interview with MTV, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin lavished praise on maverick Republican presidential contender Ron Paul.
She had a few nice things to say about another GOP candidate, Mitt Romney.
But Palin made no mention of John McCain.
Now that McCain is the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, he has selected Palin as his prospective running-mate for vice president.
McCain calls Palin his political "soul-mate."
But, in February, at a point when McCain was closing in on the Republican nomination, it sure sounded like she was sweet on Paul.
The governor, who sported a Pat Buchanan pin at a 1999 rally for the renegade Republican presidential candidate (Pat says: "She's a great choice for the base ... She's a Buchananite"), described the anti-war, libertarian-leaning congressman from Texas as "cool."
"He's a good guy," she said of Paul. "He's so independent. He's independent of the party machine. I'm like, ‘Right on, so am I.'"
Paul supporters were delighted. In fact, they even began promoting Palin as a possible veep choice for the Texas congressman.
As it happens, Paul won't be picking a running-mate in St. Paul.
But the congressman will be in the Twin Cities.
Conveniently for Palin, Paul -- who refuses to endorse McCain -- will be holding an outside-the-convention "Rally for the Republic."
More than 10,000 tickets have already been sold for an event that is expected to draw thousands of Paul's most ardent supporters to the Target Center in Minneapolis on Tuesday.
Perhaps Palin will join them.
Or is she now with the party machine?
And that is why Ron Paul will never be President of the USA. It is amazing why someone would even want to be the leader of "a force for evil." I can tell you something about Ron Paul's congressional district too: If they knew that he believed this, he wouldn't be in congress either.
For crying out loud! He's worse that Michell Obama. At least she's proud of America now. If I lived just a little further south, I'd be voting Democrat for the first time in my life, at least for congressman.

There are some of us who are very upset about this change. Most of the self-proclaimed “pro-Israel” people promote policies that are not beneficial for the United States or Israel.

The GOP has, for many years, been a coalition of economic elitists(BIG OIL) and cultural populists.
Now, the cultural populists and economic elitists are opposed. Palin(populist) is going after BIG OIL(elitist)

Governor Palin took the previous governor’s sellout to ‘big oil’ and renegotiated to have a more favorable outcome for Allaskans. Yes, big oil. Let me illustrate for you: The democrap party has become ‘big deatheaters’ with their Obamessiah, champion of ‘baby killing via neglect’. See how phrasing can give a better punch to the facts?

So other than being "pro-business", is there any other facet of mainstream conservatism you subscribe to? Size of government, 2nd Amendment, low taxes, pro-life issues, etc? It seems to me like you do not, which is why you are unable to name one single Republican you'd like to see as the running mate. I've also noticed in your posts from the past, you never have a single good thing to say about anybody, you just snipe.
The democrats in the legislature didn't like Murkowski's deal and Palin joined with democrats.

As a libertarian, I agree with that. Palin doesn't want a theocracy either.
Why are you only picking bits and pieces of my posts to respond to? I'd still be very interested in where you're coming from and knowing one single Republican you like as well as one single conservative issue you support.
I hate to make those accusations against long-timers, but I find it very odd that this dude can't name a single Republican he likes. I'm an overly-cynical libertarian, and there are still plenty I appreciate.
I'll give you some advice. The GOP can't out-populism the democrats because the democrats have been the populist party for a long, long time.
Instead, the republican populists will vote for Heath Shuler, Jon Tester, Jim Webb, Clare McCaskill, and others, like Palin.
