The Borking of Sarah Palin

Good analogy...

Uh, the McCain / Palin team released it I would think. You always get your bad news out there yourself, preferably at a time when nobody’s paying attention (like a 3 day holiday weekend when the media is going crazy over an underachieving hurricane)

Palin's attorney isn't helping. Here is what he told the Anchorage paper.

"Our concern is that Hollis French turns into Ken Starr and uses public money to pursue a political vendetta rather than truly pursue an honest inquiry into an alleged ethics issue," Van Flein said in an interview.

Ken Starr is evil now?

The Dims have certainly been doing “opposition research” for months on all possible Republcan VP candidates. Palin has been mentioned as a VP possibility for months. They had all this stuff a long time ago and are dumping according to the schedule they think helps them most.

They don’t want her running for Vice President. Some are hoping he’ll be forced to replace her.

What if the release of information can be connected back to Obama's henchmen or the DNC?

This is a trick question, right? And, precisely, what is the difference henchmen and the DNC?

The DNC will always, always do what they can to prevent a black man from sitting on the Supreme Court, or a woman being Vice President.

I lay into evidence the horrible treatment Clarence Thomas received, and also enter into evidence Walter Mondale - Even old Geraldine is considering voting for McCain this year.

And I really wish this was sarcasm, but it was mentioned over and over at the DNC in 2000 in Los Angeles by the delegates.

How ironic that a news media that can’t say anything negative about Barack Obama during the months he’s been running can dig up all kinds of supposed “dirt” on Sarah Palin in one weekend?

They must be e-mailing and text-messaging like crazy.

The Palin’s are very popular in Alaska and Alaskans are very protective of their own. Could it happen that some of the DNC “investigators” are shown the door and escorted out of town? You know, I have this mental picture of a bunch of big guys in bear skin coats carrying big guns walking briskly behind a group of fleeing wormy lawyer types! Who can draw that cartoon?

This is going to be far beyond a Borking and a high-tech Thomas lynching combined. I pray that Sarah stays in this race for her daughter's sake. Bristol does not need to be saddled with the stigma that she caused her mother to withdraw.

We all need to pray on this one . . . a lot.

The left wing of the blogosphere and the liberal media have gone tilt at the nomination of Sarah Palin as presumptive vice-presidential nominee. Hordes of Democratic investigators and journalists are pouring into Alaska in the hope of digging up any dirt on the former beauty queen turned politician.

If panic is a sign that Senator McCain got this one right then the knee-jerk we are witnessing, if no real skeletons emerge, indicates that at present the Republican presumptive candidate is batting a million.

Images of Joe Biden’s nomination to run alongside the Democratic nominee, Barrack Obama, and even Hurricane Gustav have quickly been drowned out by the stampede that Palin’s nomination has occasioned.

Educated guess: the Democrats have a very well-established opposition research team in D.C.; more than one in fact. While they had thoroughly investigated and prepared dossiers on Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney, and others, they never really considered Sarah Palin a viable VP candidate. When she was selected by McCain, they sent out urgent requests to their AK state office for any and all existing background research. What they received was essentially raw data, and in their haste to get something, anything, out there to counter the Palin “bump”, they did not properly consider which information might be useful, or in what context, or that some of it might create a sympathetic backfire.

The MSM is not biased. Their subtext goes something like this:

A woman loving and protecting her daughter, granddaugher (or grandson) has no place in politics.

Her unforgivable crimes: She didn't encourage Bristol to go to Planned Parenthood on campus and make secret arrangements to have her "product of conception" flushed from her life.

Our windfall: If she had, we would not have this wonderful opportunity to put new life back into "The Saviors" campaign after it was so rudely assaulted by an uppity white women with her redneck "boy toy", and resource-wasteful brood in tow.

What hypocrites: We're not. We hate life and make no excuses. We lie about lying, cheating and steeling. We aren't inconvenienced by "the truth" (which doesn't exist).

There is something curious about the release of traffic and court records about Sarah and Todd Palin over the last 48 hours. Who released this information over the Labor Day weekend, when all government offices were closed?

You know, that's a damned good question!

The things you mention in your rant are public documents. They weren't "released," but merely discovered by any one of a thousand enterprising reporters.

You need a new tin foil hat. The old one isn't working too well.

Why did McCain/RNC send a team of lawyers to Alaska to "investigate" the release of information?

A lame attempt to cover up the fact that all the releases were orchestrated by McCain/RNC. They want to get everything out as early as possible, in the hopes that the resulting buzz will die down long enough before Election Day that the short-memoried average American voter will have forgotten.

Palin was a colossally stupid choice for the VP spot, and unless Obama pulls out at least 2-3 more Rev. Wright caliber skeletons from his closet over the next 2 months, we might as well get used the sound of "President Obama".
