Certainly he believes that government could have provided the medical technology that might have cured his wife. But his reasoning is purely emotional and not based in the clear historical evidence of the mechanism of medical progress.

The Inside the Beltway sickness is endemic. His good friend, who is my brother-in-law, believes that Sarah Palin was a bad choice, and he is secretly supporting McCain. Although he is normally well in tune with the sentiments of the American public, I think that his assessment is a reflection of the Washington Elite conventional wisdom. I think that he wil change his mind once he gets a sense of how “Real” America is reacting to all of this.

I hope. I don’t know a soul inside the Beltway, so it’s hard for me to know what they think! Thanks for the insight.
