St. Paul, Minnesota -- The GOP is starting its meetings -- scaled down, for sure, but happening -- here at the Xcel Energy Center, and the buzz is huge: how does the news of Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter's pregnancy upset the cart? Or does it?
GOP folks here roundly insist no; Democrats outside the convention center say, are you kidding? Of course it does.
On one hand: Pro-life types love the fact that the daughter is getting married and keeping the child, and social conservatives are very into the Alaska Governor.
We saw that this morning at the Califonria delegation breakfast, where speaker after speaker -- like former California Secretary of State -- hit the talking points that she has more experience than Barack Obama.

I hope you’re wrong and the other folks are right... But with this, and the pending lawsuit, these are distractions we didn’t need... When we’re trying to define a mostly unknown (to most of America) person before the opposition does...
You are correct and I do feel that the net effect of this shameful conduct on the part of the libs will be positive for the McCain-Palin ticket. I just hope that the Palin children (or grandchildren, eventually) are not harmed by the morbid attention from the Democrats. I'm thinking the daughter probably was prepared carefully for what was to come.
...the teen probably did not 'plan' this baby.....in these circumstances.
Having said that, I rejoice she's choosing life for this child.
And it takes courage for the parents to press on....as they are.
Pretty much what my wife said. She wanted to vote for Hillary, but was already turning to McCain once it was evident the fix was in on Obama. Her comment was that "at least her parents are taking care of her, not kicking her out in the street. What's done is done, and she's still their daughter. She just made a mistake."
And, as a poster above said, the marriage to the father part is one of those things you look at before jumping into. Sometimes teenagers make mistakes on *who* they make their mistake with. Sometimes it's better for the girl to have the baby w/o the father, if he's not suitable. (Not talking this case or any other specific case at all, just in general.)
Thank-you for sharing....God bless you.
Now I see what you are saying. How exactly someone jumps from the fact that Palin's daughter got pregnant to the bogey man that she is going to deny contraception to all teenagers in American is feat more stupendous than the cow jumping over the moon. If some of your friends are making this stupendous jump, you might want to gently bring them back to their senses.
Lefties are going to sling as much mud at Palin as they can because she is the real deal. This mud-slinging will fail and only dirty their own hands.
Beautiful!...Blessings!
>> Palin should drop out.
I disagree.
>> [Good] GOD, why didnt McCain choose Romney?!?
You answered your own question. God IS good; that’s why He gave us Gov. Palin.
The Palins are very tough, gritty people and tough, gritty parents generally raise tough, gritty kids. I think the daughter will do just fine.
There's an elder(leader) in our church ...his mother was unwed when pregnant with him.
He always wanted to find his dad....not to shock him....but he longed to know his dad.
He's in his 50's now, and a few years back he found his dad and went to the home and introduced himself.
The dad rejected him then as he did all those years ago.
This man is a wonderful person....has a beautiful tenor voice and sings the leads in the Christmas pageant every year...
..is creative, funny and teaches history in a Christian school.
Even though his earthly father rejected him, he came to know in a very real and personal way his Heavenly father...and he will never be rejected by Him.
So...which ones? Take out divorce, pre-marital sex, illegitimate birth, and infidelity and what's left for us to tout?
Amen to that.
Like all of us, the Palins will have their share of warts, but given that Mrs. Palin seems to be one who 'is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ', I have no doubts that the attacks will come hard.
'For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness in this world, against spiritual wickedness'...
We got a call from a friend in Germany, She wanted us to collect up all the good Palin videos so she could pass them around when she gets back next week. She’s a Democrat, lifelong. Says she is voting for Palin. Wonder’s if she would make a good President. Could care less about the oops with the kid, well she cares but no effect.
President, one thing at a time, said I.
Magic Jack is great ... call anywhere free. No I don’t have any ....
If Sarah Palin is a big advocate of, and believes in the effectiveness of, abstinence-only education programs this situation may undermine her credibility.
I should mention that my wife feels pretty strongly about raising the ‘unexpected’ babies. She was one. She knows she’s a preacher’s granddaughter, put up for adoption in 1966. She just doesn’t know any names.
So why bother with the whole family values thing if we're not going to hold anyone to it? Let's be honest and say that marriage is between one man and one woman...until a better partner comes along. Infidelity is just fine so long as you say you're really, really sorry later. Sex is for marriage, unless you can't wait that long then anything goes. I guess that's what passes for values these days.
We press onto that goal through adversity, trials, and tribulation.
Press on, just not that hard because after all we can just say 'Sorry' and all is forgiven. Well, Ms. Palin will be a mother at 17. She has no ideas of the adversity, the trials, and the tribulations she's in for.
