The former campaign architect for U.S. President George Bush is urging Republicans to fund political attack ads, The Washington Times reported Monday.
One-time White House adviser Karl Rove has been asking top GOP campaign contributors to give money not only to the Republican National Committee but also to independent political action groups that specialize in issue-oriented attack ads, the newspaper said. Rove is said to be especially favoring Freedom's Watch, a group co-run by former GOP campaign officials Carl Forti and Tony Feather.

Of course Rove has to raise money for attack ads. The Democrats are getting free ones under the guise of “reporting” from the likes of Herr Olbermann, Chrissy Matthews the AP and Reuters.
That makes me want to know who Sarah Palin's Karl Rove is.
Does anyone know?
If you’re a Repub, you have to pay for ad time to ask questions the press should be asking.
If the press won’t explore the Obama Ayres relationship, you have to pay to raise the issue. Thats the imbalance between the Repubs and the Dems. The press isn’t biased, toward the Democratic Party, the press “is” the Democratic Party. If Repubs want to get something out into public view, they have to pay.
Solve that one, or we’ll always be behind the curve.
Freedom's Watch may spend up to $250 million in 2008 election
Group founded to support Bush's surge in Iraq and encourage military action against Iran gearing up for November
President Bush has been to Las Vegas nine times since he was first inaugurated, but last Wednesday was the first time he ever stayed overnight in Sin City. He and his aides (and the traveling press corps) did so in luxury, staying at the Venetian, the palatial casino resort run by Sheldon Adelson, the chairman of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and a big force in GOP and philanthropic circles. (He is part of the money behind Freedom's Watch, the conservative foreign policy group formed as a kind of counterpoint to liberal groups like MoveOn.org.) Adelson and his wife, Miriam, were in the loading dock at the Venetian Thursday to greet Bush and jumped into his limousine to ride with him to his speech sponsored by a conservative think tank.
After the speech, Adelson -- who was at the White House in November for the official dinner for French President Nicolas Sarkozy -- hosted Bush at a Nevada GOP fundraiser at his home in the Tournament Hills gated community. A Nevada GOP official would not provide figures for the total take.

In early December, Freedom's Watch, the well-funded conservative lobbying group founded by former White House staffers and extremely wealthy longtime Republican donors, fired its first shot in Election 2008. Founded last year, and making its public debut with a $15 million dollar advertising campaign in support of Bush's "surge" in mid-August, the group recently funded a series of ads in a northern Ohio special congressional election.
"But with the unprecedented lowlife attacks on the families of the Republican candidates, I may send Rove some money. The Dems need to learn its not smart to make these kinds of attacks. Even rational conservatives get pissed off at some point. Then there is hell to pay."
All the Republicans or any "conservative" group has to do is present an ad that tells the truth of Obama's past policies or statements, or his future plans and stated policies or the same of Biden and it's considered an "attack"
Attack ads? Is that Rove’s term or is that the media’s term for “issue” ads? According to the media, do the Democrats ever run “attack” ads?
Steve Schmidt is the Karl Rove for McCain/Palin. Flawless performance so far.
“That makes me want to know who Sarah Palin’s Karl Rove is.”
Steven Schmidt, McCain’s Campaign Manager, is a Karl Rove protege and friend.
Whenever lying Dems are shown to be lying Dems, the MSM screams ‘SWIFTBOATING!” or “ATTACK AD!’. Ignore them.
Good for Rove and good for Freedom’s Watch
I think a little vocabulary should be required before someone writes an article...
What is an “attack ad”?
What is an “issues ad”?
I submit that it all depends on what party you represent. If you are a Democrat/Liberal, then any ad you run - no matter how dirty, gross, fraudulent, etc. it is, it is an “issues ad”.
If you are a Republican or Conservative and run any sort of ad that makes any reference to the opposition, it is automatically deemed an “attack ad”.
There - does that clarify things?
An example in point - any advertisement that points out the FACTUAL and DOCUMENTED voting record of Obama as both a state politician and as a US Senator related to abortion will be automatically deemed an attack ad.
If Obama or his acolytes run an ad that blasts Palin for her 17 year-old daughter being pregnant - it is considered an “issues ad”.
