This could backfire on the Dems and liberals big time.

They are crowing now about how the family values daughter is pregnant, and what does that say about family values, and all that.

What the liberals don’t understand about people of faith is that the people of faith know that we all fall short of God’s grace. If they think that this news will cause many voters to go for Obama/Biden instead, they have another thing coming.

People of faith look at Sarah’s daughter as someone who has sinned, but also as someone who is going to adhere to her values by choosing life for her baby, and dedicated to raising her baby in an intact family. People of faith look at a situation like this as one which is going to be a challenge for Sarah’s daughter. But they also see that she is making decisions for her future and her baby’s future which will be good for everyone.

this is anything but a tragedy

Conceiving a child out of wedlock is not something to support

Well, I guess we're no better than DU, condemning her rather than acting out of forgiveness, moving on, celebrating life and making the right choice. Let's continue to focus on the past that led to this.

The Governor has asked that everyone respect her family’s privacy in this matter.

I’ve asked the mods to delete this thread. IMO, you should do the same.

Come on, pregnant at 17 out of wedlock is not a good thing. Pregnant and married at 19 is wonderful. If you read the rest of what I wrote, it was clear.

If they were already engaged and then she got pregnant, I’d even cut them some slack, though it’s still not a good idea. But it would seem that they are getting married because of their mistake. If so, then it’s not good. They are making the best of it. I respect them and wish them well.

But don’t try to make their situation normal like yours. I’ll cut you some slack and assume you merely wanted to point out a typo. But you could have done it without accusing.

Or do you really believe that being pregnant out of wedlock at 17 is normal and good?

Again, leave them alone. If there’s an outpouring of money etc. to set them up and make life easier, the libs will pounce with the hypocrisy—why haven’t we organized charity fund drives for every couple in the world who find themselves in this situation? We preach self-reliance and individual responsibility rather than government handouts. We organize fund drives for people struck by illness etc. But when kids make a mistake and step up to take responsibility for it, let their family handle it in their own way. Otherwise it will be said that they only survived because her mother was a political celebrity—the conservatives only care about children of their own political hacks who get into trouble, not about Sheila and Shawn down in the ‘hood who are in the same spot.

For God’s sake, let the family have their privacy, like they asked you to do.

Support her, by all means, but do so privately, on your own. If Rush were to do what you ask, it will turn this into a disaster for all of us. Leave them alone, publicly. Do whatever you want, privately.

Great idea. We probably wouldn’t be able to get real gifts to her, but she could certainly use the support and encouragement.

Crisis pregnancy centers throw baby showers for their clients all the time. A baby shower is intended to help with raising the BABY, not give social acceptance to the manner in which the pregnancy began.

Celebrate and welcome the baby, yes, by all means. But don’t celebrate the out-of-wedlock conception. Praise them for taking responsibility yes, but don’t give the impression that they did the normal or good thing initially. Can’t you make that sort of distinction? They did a good thing in response to a bad thing?

If you just call the whole business normal and good, then the Libs rightly call you hypocritical. You have to, as the Palins themselves did, point out that the choice they made initially (to have sex outside marriage) will bring them some hard times.

Above all, leave the daughter and her fiance alone, as the Palins asked us to do.

“I guess I’ll take the advice of shutting up and doing nothing and let the libs rip her to shreds and condemn her without a word of dissent.”

None of us you accuse of “flaming” you said any such thing. Fight the libs as much as you want, just don’t turn the girl into some sort of national cause-celebre. Let her, her family, her fiance deal with this privately. Defend her against those who would tear her to shreds, but I guarantee you that if Rush were to organize a national baby-shower for Bristol Palin, it would only cause the young women to be torn to shreds even more viciously.

Can you truly not see the difference?
