DOVER, Del. (AP) | Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, received five student draft deferments during the Vietnam War, the same number of deferments received by Vice President Dick Cheney, and later was disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager.

I think I'm spending too much time at DU. I can rattle that crap off without even much thinking about it.
We know Joey “Welsh coal miner” is a drama queen.
Yeah, but he is a scrappy kid from PA
It would be interesting to see, if he ever released his medical records, if he has ever been treated for asthma since he was a “teenager”.
The draft itself wouldn’t have been an issue for Obama, but registration was, iirc.
Unless, of course, he was still claiming dual citizenship.
What is he...47 years old. That would mean he was born in about 1961. 18 years old would get us to 1979, so his responsibility would be based on the law of 1979, and I don’t remember what it was. The end of the draft was replaced with a requirement to register, but I’m not sure when that kicked in.
I heard on one of the Sunday shows that Hussein’s team doesn’t know how to deal w/ SP, but they are counting on the MSM to dirty her up.
And it’s happening. Where’s the drumbeat against Biden about “Indian Accents’ or ‘my state was a slave state, we’d have joined the Confederacy except for Maryland being in the way’ from the 2008 campaign? Why isn’t that shown over and again like ‘macacca’? And Biden’s being a plagiarist? Or the clean and articulate comment? Or about his bleached teeth and hair plugs?
Sarah, you go girl.
Chicken Hawk Joe Biden.
Why didn't he use the asthma as a deferment in the first place? Was it because he finally found a doctor that would lie for him?
Why didn't he use the asthma as a deferment in the first place?
Why didn't he use the asthma as a disqualification in the first place?
So it was found that Biden had asthma only after his deferments ran out?
So I guess we can makes signs now that say “Biden is a ChickenHawk” LOL.
Begs one to wonder what Biden was quoted as saying at the time about Vice Pres. Cheney’s deferments and Pres. Bush’s Nat’l Guard service.
Ahoy starboad!
I think that maybe you're right, you are spending just a tad too much time at the cesspool that is the DUmp. The fumes must be affecting you.
I can rattle that crap off without even much thinking about it.
Just like the trapped idiots that inhabit that snakepit, if you stand too close. Most of the posts I see there appear to be made with little, to no, thinking whatsoever.
Whot! a Democrat ever releasing HIS personal medical records? Are you daft, man? NO Democrat releases medical records, not now, not ever. Privacy, doncha know. The public has no RIGHT to go poking about in something that is none of their business.
Just because a Democrat is in a highly sensitive and highly placed position, where his (or her) health is of paramount importance relating to the capability to discharge the duties of the office, is no reason to be mucking about looking for reasons for forcing their removal from office for medical reasons.
Consider Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and the “Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001”. All these former Presidents suffered from medical conditions, that if known at the time, would have been considered to be a sufficient degree of disability to prevent any of them from adequately carrying out the responsibility a President must bear.
Just consider persons who are serving as Senator. Ted Kennedy SHOULD have resigned his seat and gone home, so an effective (if equally misguided) HEALTHY individual could replace him. Likewise Robert Byrd, or Tim Johnson, or Frank Lautenberg. Any of these people could have been (and probably were) making judgments that adversely affected the outcome in the Senate, and their vote may very well have been the result more of dulled perception than of considered discernment for the facts of the matter.
That's been put to rest. Obama did register.
By strict definition a chicken hawk would be one who supported the war but did all they could to avoid service. I don;t know if Biden falls in this category.
In the 80’s, my husband was an Army officer stationed at Ft. Dix. Another officer’s son wanted desperately to follow in his father’s footsteps.
This young man was very healthy and did not anticipate any problems with his physical. However, in reviewing his medical chart, sometime during his youth, an Army physician wrote that he had asthma.
This family could not even remember that he had any such problems during his childhood. They were puzzled.
Would you believe, because of that, he was rejected from enlisting!
