Sorry for the vanity post but I wanted to give many of you an insight as to what's happening in downtown St Paul on the eve of the RNC.
The area around Xcel Enegy Center has been walled off to foot and motor trafic. I approached one of the checkpoints from the W 7th St (or western side). There is A LOT of security present...plainclothes Secret Service, local cops, wildlife/game officers (yes, they're armed too)and a lot of National Guard. Groups of St Paul police are patrolling the perimeter on some really huge horses. Helicopters are constantly flying over downtown St. Paul and the convention area.
One weird-lookng guy was taking a extended cell phone shot of a security checkpoint. A guy in street clothes came up, flashed a badge and ID'd himself as Secret Service. He reminded the guy that while he was OK taking photos on public property, that they had better not find him taking photos of other checkpoints or officers. The guy mumbled some excuse and drove off on his bike.
I saw Karl Rove tonight. He left the convention center with a small entourage and headed off to dinner. I waved and said "Hi, Karl". He smiled, nodded and gave me a quick wave. About a half-hour later, Alan Colmes walked out. I didn't say anything to him though. Then Sean Hanity came thru and I said "Hi, Sean. Love your show". He stopped, shook my hand and thanked me. There were fairly decent-looking women coming in and out of the checkpoint although I can't be sure if they were RNC staff or were members of the media groups there.
Since I'm not a volunteer, this may be my only post from St. Paul. But if I get down there again, I will post on it.
lol. PICS??
Checking fishing licenses?
Let me guess: "You're a Great American."

Good job!.
I drove by St. Paul today to be a tourist and visit the fabulous houses on summit hill and also to visit St. Paul’s cathedral.
I concur with your description that the excel center is cordonned off for 2-3 blocks in all directions.
Delegates are mostly taking shuttle buses from downtown Minneapolis.
You never know when a tiger could attack the leader of your country.

Checking fishing licenses?
Oh lord, don’t let the Dummies hear about it
the next thing you know they will be putting it about
that they are there to arrest Sarah for fishing violations.
Hahahaha.
I haven’t had this much fun since the impeachment, or maybe
soreloserman, or KerryIwasinvietnamyouknow.
Absolutely the thing the democrats hate the most is ridicule and mockery, they are so selfcentered it drives
them moonbat shit crazy. Once they start they just can’t seem to stop.
The electorate is getting a real eyeopener as to their real
nature.
McCain picked the perfect running mate.
Go McCain/Palin!
Thanks for the info! Please keep writing. First hand stories always seem to be more interesting and real. Funny you saw wildlife/game officers there. I guess they expect the lib protesters to act like wild animals!
Next time you see Alan Colmes, tell him to get a hair cut! 8^)(just kidding)
BTW, conservative women are better looking (and smelling) than libs!
Honestly, I’ve found the convention to be like I would expect to find any swarm of tourists - annoying. West 7th St. is shut down, which has been a pain for me, and I’m sick of giving people directions to the Mall of America. There’s a lot else here besides some giant crappy mall.
Just asking ...
There were fairly decent-looking women coming in and out of the checkpoint
Call girls?
i’m a tourist, how do I get to the mall of america ?
Oh, you should tell them to visit the cathedral, it is fabulous.
First person reports are always more interesting than the MSM reports - so thanks.
Actually glad to know the security is so tight. It needs to be.
Don’t forget the Marines and their antibiological defense heroes.
Thanks Steve.

Hello,
just got back from watching all of the protests today, I am currently uploading the photos and will share when it is complete.
A few things I saw today:
*A dumpster tipped over and lit on fire by a group of 40 in all black.
*A cop car hit with a bag of shit, then the back window broken out with a piece of concrete.
*A lot of smelly people, my god people, take a shower.
*What appeared to be a delegate bus hit with bags urine.
