Did Dr. Sowell use the "audacity of hype" phrase also?

At any rate, what a great opportunity now for Republicans to distinguish themselves in the face of Gustav.

What a coup if they could appeal to the common sense of the American people by pointing out the excesses and waste of the spectacle last week in Denver by contrasting it with a much simpler Convention that would concentrate dollars on helping real people in a real hurricane.

Last week's Hollywood and DNC waste on "smoke and mirrors" to promote a smoke and mirrors pair of candidates whose only promise is an illusory "change" cannot compare with the real change that ordinary people could see by such a move!

The brave souls who adopted our Declaration of Independence and framed America's Constitution did not promise a government that would do everything for us, but they did perform a miracle which freed ordinary men and women from government tyranny, enabling them to transform the wilderness and become a beacon of liberty for all the world.

The time to reassert their genius is now. Let's have real change! Enough of the glitz and silliness, already.

I think Dr. Sowell wrote about “The Audacity of Ignorance.”
