The President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez, officially declared Saturday his country's support of Russia and of their decision to recognize South Ossetia's and Abkhazia's independence.

With their President's declaration Venezuela became the second country to officially recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Belarus is the other one - they declared earlier their support of the decision of the Russian government.

"We support Russia. Russia has all the right to defend their own interest," Chavez said in a televised statement.

Didn't Hugo get the memo? South Ossetia is not going to be an independent country. The Kremlin has already announced that it will be absorbed into Russia. I guess Hugo will just unrecogize them per the orders of his KGB bosses.

So who else has recognized South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent? Well, besides Venezuela, there's also the Maoist government of Nepal.

Apparently the only people in the world who support the Kremlin's recognition of Abkhazian and South Ossetian independence are communists. What a surprise.

Chavez is like an angry little child. “Mommy, I hate Joey and I hate all of Joey’s friends!”

Hugo, grow up!

Sure, big guy -- tell that to all the journalists and citizens who've been censored by you; tell that to the US Oil Companies who you've ripped off in your "nationalization" thrust to fascism in Venezuela.

But you can certainly tell it your buddy Danny Glover, to whom you proposed to make a film, and Danny is now whining he can't meet your quota of 1/2 the cost of production from American producers. Not a word to be found if he asked Spike Lee for the dough.
