I think McCain should step down and hand over the reins to Fred Thompson, now that would be real positive change. Two real conservatives on the ticket.
Though, I agree having two conservatives would be nice, flights of fantasy about Fred is probably a serious sign of living in denial.
McCain is the pick, even if McCain did step down, Fred would not take it just to lose to a neophyte faux messiah.

Fred Thompson ran one of the most pathetic campaigns I’ve ever seen. He acted like he wanted to be coronated and, when that didn’t work, he didn’t seem interested in playing. The truth is he’s a tired old man who comes off looking like a corpse when he’s without a script & director. Even Rudy Guliani did better.
Ideas aside, being elected President is as much of an endurance contest than anything else. To get the job, you really have to want it with every fiber of your being. You may have the greatest ideas in the world, but if you don’t have the fortitude and motivatation to get them implemented, you will be no-place. Thompson failed that test miserably.
