I hope McCain can pull this out and I hope it was not a mistake to pick Palin. I still, personally, believe Romney would have been a better choice. Romney could not be challenged on a lack of experience like Palin, and where moderates may be skittish about Palin being “one heartbeat away” from the Presidency, there would be no such worries with Romney. I think the turning point will be in the VP debate. If Palin can prove herself there hold her own or even “win” against Biden, a lot of my worries will be gone.
Only time will tell if this was a wise choice, on McCain’s part.
I read on a blog today that in a debate with Biden, Palin will make him look like Ted Baxter.
As a conservative woman, I am so energized by this pick that I can’t get any real work done today, drawn as I am to all the blogs, FR especially. It seems that some democratic women will come over to her side, especially those more upset with Obama than favoring abortion “rights.”
It would be great to see some in-depth debates about some issues, such as abortion, where “all” women are seen as pro-choice. Perhaps we shall see the death of identity politics in favor of strong individuals who think rationally about the issues and their ramifications instead of settling for easy solutions that feel good now but cause more problems down the road as the Democrats do.
Heard the following last night" The conservative press hates Romney and McCain was able to cut him off at the legs in the debates - Biden would do the same" In fact, Romney would probably be a better choice, but Palin is the better political choice. And among the four candidates, she's the only one with real executive experience.
The Alaskan old boy Republican "Bridge to Nowhere" network underestimated her to their regret. They are toast.
Me and many others would have stayed home if McCain had chosen that cult member for his V.P. pick.
It would be hard for McCain to win without votes from Catholics. A Mormon on the ticket, even the bottom of the ticket, would be a problem for most Catholics on the left, right or center. I’ll let the Protestants speak for themselves on this subject but I think some of them might have a problem also.
