France will not seek to impose sanctions against Russia over the current Russia-Georgia conflict at the European Union summit scheduled for Monday in Brussels, French media cited a source from the Elysee as saying.
"We are now in dialogue with Moscow, not in the phase of sanctions," the source was quoted by AFP as saying on Friday. Time for sanctions "is certainly not coming," it said.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose country is now holding the rotating presidency of the European Union, called a special summit in Brussels to discuss the Russia-Georgia crisis and the future relationship between Russia and the EU.

I can’t believe it. Now is the time to begin a massive effort to isolate Russia economically, militarily and politically. Do NOT let the current Russian administration crawl back into its cave, only to emerge later and grab more territory.

Russia has Europe by the balls basically because they are reliant on Russia for oil and gas supplies to stop their economies from grinding to a halt. The perils of relying on unreliable and potentially adversarial nations for your economic wellbeing......

Governor Palin may not have any or little experience of foreign affairs - BUT SHE IS RIGHT! Just like another former governor who had to face down the Russians - though they were called the Soviets at that time.
The energy question is the most important foreign affairs issue in this decade - and here Gov Palin has all the right credentials.
This is 1938 all over again. We will have peace in our time.
All the countries mentioned should be neutral, IMO.
There is a reason the USA won Cold War I and France didn't. Now we have Cold War II and it is the same-old, same-old (sigh).
