Why can’t private donantions be accepted after today?

BTW, can’t McCain dig into his private stash? It’s not as though Cindy is poor ... .

McCain has opted for public financing.

Bad idea, but there you are.

It’s actually the last day for primary contributions. I believe we can still donate for the general after that. But it’s a great impetus to affirm the Palin pick, and I made my donation yesterday.

I am sure she will. Personally, I’d rather send some dough to this years equivalent of the Swift Boat guys or some state organizations that are not afraid to buy tough advertisements which may not necessarily be authorized by JSM.

This is the last day for donations to the McCain campaign because John McCain is a man of his word and is keeping his pledge to accept federal campaign funding for the general election.

This means he will be limited to that $20 million between now and the election, while Obama has reneged on his pledge to accept federal funding because of his unprecedented ability to raise money. So there's no limit to how much Obama can spend on smear ads to defeat McCain.

And the limit on personal funds McCain can use, whether his or Cindy's, is $50,000.
