When I read their platform, I didn't think of them as being traitorous at all.

Exactly the same for me. I read their platform and it made perfect sense. Basically, their platform says that they think the Fed has federalized too much of Alaska's land and natural resources.

Then I read their major goal (listed on their website.)

It was simply: "to get a statehood vote." That is hardly incindiary. It isn't traitorous at all.

And they don't want to secede....some of them want to go back to territorial status. That's not breaking away.
